What the hell did Mittens do to piss off Clinton so much that this election he's been Obama's #1 surrogate?

(2,522 posts)When your keynote speaker does a 180 on you before he exits the stage and then professes undying love and gratitude for the enemy of the state Baraaaack Obbaaaama at a critical time in the campaign--you know that the guys is a big POS. Seamus must be doing high fives in dog walk heaven.
Oh yeah, along the way he managed to dis 47% of Americans, reject 7-11 cookie makers, lie to and scare the bejebus out of Ohio auto employees, insult the British, invade Rick Perry's space, laugh at climate change, tell POTUS to shut up "its my turn to speak", wear unflattering dark skinned makeup when speaking to Latinos, etc. etc., etc.

(55,147 posts)It was used by U.S. presidential candidate Bill Clinton as the theme for his first campaign, most notably at the 1992 Democratic National Convention. Upon winning the election, President Clinton persuaded the then-disbanded group to reform to perform it for his inaugural ball in 1993. At the 2000 DNC, he ended his speech by saying, "Keep putting people first. Keep building those bridges. And don't stop thinking about tomorrow!" Immediately after this sentence, the song began playing over the loudspeakers.
The theme was played again for Clinton's appearances at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 events.

(39,343 posts)I was commenting on the prevalence of Bill Clinton in Obama's re-election campaign this time around.
Clinton was not a big part of Obama's election but he has been huge in the re-election effort. I know that it's because Hillary was running, but even after the primaries I dont recall Clinton working this hard for Obama.

(10,611 posts)He cleaned up a GOP mess and watched GWB send the country to hell after he got it back on track.
There could be some political trade-off down the road, but I'm not seeing that arms really need to be twisted. Bill has been POTUS, his wife has been SoS and, though unlikely, wouldn't have a problem getting support if she wanted to gear up for 2016.
Maybe he just wants to do everything he can to make sure the assholes don't prevail again, because this time, a lot of that damage could be irreparable with the extremists now knocking at the door.

(50,365 posts)He IS a Democrat and would be out there for the Dem candidate.
He loves campaigning and it shows.
He has genuine respect for Obama, Obama beat the Clinton juggernaut which took some doing, imo.
He dislikes Romney.
The actions by the Romney campaign, the utter stupidity of their decision to try and create a divide between Obama and Clinton by using what Clinton achieved to slam Obama, thinking it would create division between the two as well as division between supporters of Obama and those who supported Hillary during the Primaries. Fatal mistake, one of many, on the part of the Romney campaign, imo. This stupidity alone would have brought Clinton out in full throat support of President Obama were there no other reasons as well, again imo.
Here's an article about the campaign's attempt to divide:
