I buy stuff from all over the place with this account. I can't remember the last time they flagged it. I'm sure it's meaningless, it just jumped out at me.

So it is different I suppose. You'd think they'd expect it around this time. No biggie, just surprising.

the programs go by patterns, and if all except one transaction took place in California that one will stand out.

Then you can send the full header to the originating IP address server and shut them down.

my accounts. CitiBank does this to me on occasion and I don't mind, not that you said that, but I just call them and chill them out... I am lucky at this point in my life to have a choice in what cards to use, in another time, a freeze or flag on THE card I had would be a big drag. It happens when I travel and use my card in a different place. AMEX does this less although they have done so a couple of times too.

And call the number on the back of your card, not one in any email, ever...

"attempted" is a flag. That means that it may not have been approved. Hopefully you just called Chase to straighten it out. I do that when I get an email like that, or text, from my bank/cards. That way I can handle it over the phone with them (provided I can understand the person names "Steve" from India.)

But yeah.. definitely call them because it looks like they're holding up the donation. I don't click links like that from bank stuff, because so often it's phishing.

But it's CLEAR they are holding up your donation (one NOT authorized) Also, once you clear it up, you might want to send an email or call to Obama For America, and let them know that Chase is holding up donations. And yes... corporations DO that sort of shit.
