by refusing to have their vote suppressed, I also have never had to wait more than ten minutes to vote and can't imagine putting up with this.

Here in California I have only had 3 people in front of me, no matter what time I go. I have to walk a block to another house. So convenient and easy. These voters are amazing

...and hand deliver their ballots in the last week of October. So are they!!

I find it terribly ironic that early voting in Florida is supposed to make voting easier and more convenient-- at the rate they are going, some elderly person is going to die while standing on line for six hours!! There's no way my parents would have the stamina to survive it.

....where we are mailed our ballots, and mail them back...I have to wonder WHY IN THE HELL does the election have to be conducted in a way that requires physical staminain other states????? People need to speak up and demand better.

What if you are in your late 70s or have trouble walking? That's what people faced here this week. Horrendous. Fuck you Rick Scott.

By mail is NOT better, unless very vote is actually counted. that is NOT the case3, unfortunately.
here is Los Angeles, very blue, vote by mail signatures are checked by ES&S corporation, formerly Diebold, software. I stand in line. At least i know my ballot does not go into the trash. A human being looks at my signature at the poll. I am present while it happens.

be surprised. if signatures are checked by ES&S software, which is more and more widespread, know that it has high medium and low choices. The high medium and low determine how exact of a signature match you want, hence what percentage of votes will be automatically rejected.
Remember 80% of Us votes are counted by software owned by private corporations. they all happen to be right wing corporations.

20. Absentee ballots in Florida are counted by a committee
Sun Nov 4, 2012, 08:01 PM
Nov 2012

The whole transaction is recorded and there is a local judge and representatives of any political party that wants to vote plus the election supervisor and staff. I have two friends who have been serving on the committee and they were impressed with the thoroughness of the process. They said the most difficult part is that signatures on the ballots have to match the signature on your voter registration and it was very difficult to even read many signatures and if they cannot match them up they get thrown out. So make you signature legible! All accepted ballots in our county then get fed through a scan machine that is the same as the ones used by regular voters. I have a friend from the League of Women voters who participated and another one who participated as a dem.

Here in California, I was able to sit on my ass and fill out a mail-in ballot. Thugs can try their best to stifle democracy, but you can't crush when it burns in their hearts. My hat off to these folks no matter how they vote.
