Off-site parking was at a government complex named after Meldrim Thomson; the NH governor who thought it would be a good idea for the National Guard to have nuclear weapons.

William Loeb, who truly would've endorsed Hitler had he the opportunity, was publisher of the only statewide newspaper for decades and wielded a lot of power. The whole no sales/no income tax issue (which makes our property taxes outrageous) became the permanent flashpoint issue thanks to Loeb.
The Manchester paper is still a conservative rag, and those who consider it the state's bible truly are in need of heavy duty counseling.
We're making progress, but have a ways to go.

That caused Ed Muskie to, Oh MY GOD, show emotion. That was when there was no crying in politics. Loeb was the forerunner of fox news, limbaugh, and all our modern haters.

and I do still love it here. Our state legislature was taken over by a bunch of tea partiers in 2010 (like so many others). As a result, the TP's made a mess of our laws. ie: it is now legal to bring a weapon into the legislature halls. I guess they needed another weapon since their arguments are usually totally lame. They tried to repeal our gay marriage law but met up with too so much contempt from the people that they finally decided to 'table' the idea. I attended an Obama speech this summer, when Michelle, Joe and his wife were all here. The crowd was huge. I had to sneak thru a bunch of people just to get a glimpse. And that was all there was for me, a glimpse, and he was minuscule. Anyway, I wanted you all to know that not every NH'ite needs a lobotomy. Some of us (hopefully enough) are more than proud to be voting for Obama.

Very good to have you with us! Very good to have your help! We need you! This election isn't in the bag yet. Looking pretty good but it's not won yet. We have to work like there's no tomorrow. Because after Tuesday, if wrongney wins, there may not be much of one if you're anywhere outside the vaunted, sanctified 1%.

Now get to work.

their political reporting has been totally in the tank for romney and i hate it. this was "the story" i think. are you in NH? it was about a guy i think his name is Bennett who became speaker and just turned the state house upside down. moderates were not welcome. kind of in the mold of tom delay i think.

I am not in NH. Know nothing about this tom delay clone but now I've have to find out to have more ammunition post election. Because as I see it. When Obama wins, we will have won a major battle but not the war. If, down ticket, we don't do well, House and Senate, that war will get nastier and more vicious for the next four years. We have to drum these thugs out of our government, never to see them return with their tea party masters. I know, I know I'm dreaming. But doesn't hurt to dream I guess. I long to see enlightenment flood our people to the point where we will turn our backs on hate and division and move toward a brighter day of peace and universal goodwill.

hopefully the republicans get a wake up call and realize that the electorate would prefer that they govern rather than waste all their time making war on women and protecting their wealth and power.
