Many must DUers like to be abused - beaten - lied to

I swear every day I read an OP from a fellow DUer who's just AMAZED about something RIDICULOUS that Fox Noise, Joe Scarborough, or Rush Limbaugh says. How or why would any of you listen or watch that crap and then express outrage about what is said? I don't listen to Rush, I don't watch Fox or Joe Scarborough. I don't get outraged.

I just don't get it. I suppose you want to hear what the other side is saying...but why come here and express the outrage of what they are saying. We all know where they come from.

What would compel someone to watch that swill and then almost act surprised and outraged when they do? That is like complaining about being frightened after paying to go through a haunted house.

I'm never surprised, but it motivates me to do more. I think it's more like being frightened into action, IMO. Mention, Evolution is

It gets your blood pressure up. Me, I don't care so much for that. Like you said, we all know what they will say about any selected topic. Even the outrage gets kind of old because there are no surprises any more. Nothing Limbaugh or Coulter or any of those other creeps could say, no matter how disgusting, is really surprising because their barrel has no bottom to scrape - they just keep digging deeper through shit and sludge.

So what else is new? Turn them off; they thrive on negative energy. They're like the Dementors in Harry Potter; they suck all the joy and goodness from the world. Point your wand at them and yell "EXPECTO PATRONEM." Walk away and don't talk about them. Don't bring their shit here.

I'm with you... some things one should just keep to themselves.

What is bugging me is some here saying that we are going to have a majority of pubs in congress. Why post such drivel? What good could it possibly do except to make cover for theft?

on some blogs has led to me dropping them. I wish I had a dollar for every disaster that has never happened I've read about, not to mention the rumors. If there's something to be done about a real problem that's one thing, if it's all about venting and hand wringing over nothing, it only wears us out.

I know what you're saying, but at the same time you're implying that you're somehow superior, since you avoid being outraged -- you're actually making a bit of a boast in the form of a complaint. You needn't take fellow DUers to task just because you don't care for a common practice on these boards. My best guesses for these types of postings are:
-An OP may not be an experienced political junkie, and may be genuinely startled to actually hear/read deep-dish RW propaganda.
-An OP (as suggested upthread) may be rather shaken by something, and might want to share it to weaken its toxicity.
-Sometimes it's healthy to take the measure of the opposition.
-In fact, I'm concerned when someone *isn't* outraged at something the RW media has lied about or distorted. Give me the outrage any day!

Your surprised when someone isn't outraged by the radical right? Really? What purpose does that serve?
They've been doing it for more than 2 decades now. I don't need to hear it on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. They've been singing the same tired tune for more than 30% of my life and they've been telling the same lies with the same screeching hyperbolic tone. Being outraged at this point would be a complete waste of energy.
There is nobody that comes to DU that doesn't know what they're about, what they're going to say before they say it, thus there is no reason for outrage.
It's predictable claptrap and should be treated as such.

get people to vote. Apparently the only way to get people to vote is to scare them. I have voted in every election since I was legally able to vote. It never took outrage to get me to vote. But maybe for some people it does. All I know is I don't need the stress. I voted and I'm not wasting my time worrying about it. I will find out soon enough on Tuesday night.

Or some people are simply throwing extreme RW points on here to stir the pot. I remember my grandmother went to a Tuesday night female. She told us they sat around discussed things that would just piss them off. I never really understood that but maybe it is the same kind of thing.

That we swap cake recipes and guitar chords? Don't lecture down, I'm almost ready for Medicare. I've heard it all before as well, and for 50+ years. I know what the right wing song-and-dance is, all too well. But I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist when someone is posts on DU regarding something they find outrageous. Anything that stokes the fires to resist the right wing is worthwhile.

But my point is how do they really find a "surprise" in what extreme banter the RW is spewing? These are TV and radio hosts going after ratings from a particular audience. They are going to say shocking and outrageous stuff. So repeating their shit on here serves what purpose?

I'd rather get a good BBQ or cookie recipe than to read about what Glenn Beck said today.
