I was shocked by the overt and hateful racism AND sexism during this election.

I'm not naive. I'm from the south, after all. I know racism exists. And that sexism exists.

But I have been truly shocked at how extreme some of the language and positions have been in the Repubican and Libertarian parties. The hatred, even. The suggestion that girls who get pregnant and say they were raped are lying? That contraception should not be available to women? That if a business wants to pay an Af. American or a woman less just because of that, it has that right? That Roe v. Wade should be overturned? That laid off workers on unemployment, or elderly people on Social Security are deadbeats?

The "shuck and jive" and "food stamp President" name calling, and muslim and birther accusations.

Those weren't just the average people at rallies. Those things were said by our leaders in Congress and governors and former governors!

It's been bad. But if my eyes have been opened, there must've been other eyes opened. As I said, I knew this existed, just not to this extent, and not this hateful.

The Republican Party is narrowing itself into a group of white, older people who have not realized that the world has changed. As of now, though, they still have half the country, or almost. Here's hoping that with each successive election, they have a little less, and a little less. Of course, they could wake up and revert to the moderate party it used to be.......nah. That' s not gonna happen.

Since the day Obama was elected and the turtle mad his proclamation that the republicans primary goal was to make him a one term President.

But it was just in the closet. Black president got elected, and it's like people just lost their damn minds. Who actually goes and says "I'm going to work to make sure this president fails" right after the dude has been elected?

My first reply to the right wingers is that four years ago they became a minority. In this election you will be in an even smaller minority. This is not your country. This country belongs to people like me who are sick of being bullied around. Especially by minoriies like you!

That shuts them up fairly well.
