(10,942 posts)That was the last GW Bush budget. The last budget deficit was 1.1 trillion. The President reduced the deficit by 300 billion dollars in four years, without any help from republicans.

(3,596 posts)There is a difference between the fiscal deficit and the DEBT.
Yes, Obama has reduced the deficit - that is, within an accounting fiscal year, expenditures over income.
Obama has increased the long term DEBT but by much less than his critics charge and by a much smaller amount than his predecessors, especially Reagan and the two Bushes.
