looking for help trying to find accurate information.

my aunt needs home respite care. She needs help doing daily activities since she can do very little without help. She has someone who takes her to doctors appointments and does her shopping as well as help prepare her meals and does light house work like dusting changing her bed.

Anyways she is deeply upset with a new company she has gone too. They have sent 5 people to work for her and of those 5 people she only trust one person. The other 4 she basically "fired" the other 4 people. 2 went shopping at a store that was only 15 Min's from her home. These woman who only work 5 hours a day took 3 hours to shop.

One woman tried to steal from her and another tried to drug her.

Basically my aunt feels lucky to find the 5th person and except for this worker my aunt refuses to let anyone else from this company into her home.

She wants to find another agency BUT she is having a problem finding information. She has contacted office of long term living but has not been able to contact anyone. My aunt wants to know if there is some sort of rating system for these agencies. She wants a way to pick a company that would be more trusting. She also wants to take her aide with her to the new company.

I've been trying to find info on line for her BUT I'm failing. Can anyone point me in the right direction? We are in Western PA

I would look for online ratings (if there are any for these types of companies), and I'd call some codjh9 Nov 2012 #1
Speak with a social worker or case manager at your local hospital. Mr.Bill Nov 2012 #2

local social services agency to see if they can recommend any particular company. There also may be volunteers available through some agency to do stuff for your aunt, but maybe not often enough to replace a private company.

They are familiar with local companies that provide these services and can give you a referal.

My wife is a retired case manager and RN, but unfortunately not in your area.
