To my fellow "lefties" on DU.....

I voted for Obama today. I have been very unhappy with his choice of Arte Duncan and his policies on education. I am a teacher, and have been for nearly thirty years. This is anything but a minor issue to me.

I got so angry during the first debate when the President said that his policy on Social Security had a lot in common with Romney's, or words to that effect. I blew off steam by swearing not to vote for him.

I have been bitterly disappointed at other times, such as during the health care debate. I won't go into details about all of that. You know the drill, if you're a leftie.

I voted for Obama today. I'm from the left wing of the Democratic party. I appreciate many things he has done so far. And he is going to hear from me during his second term. Oh yes he is. I have a stake in his second term now.

Will you join with me and make sure he hears from us, after you have voted your conscience?

but he isn't going to be paying attention to anything non-election related tomorrow or the next day.

There is an election TOMORROW.

President Obama is in Iowa now and will be sleeping in Chicago tonight

If it makes ya feel better stay up all night writing to the White House.

But some of us are paying attention to the election today and will be tomorrow too, and then celebrating.

I am amazed that anyone would even want to gripe about President the eve of the election

Now I am off to put the champagne in the refrigerator

And the 'last ever' Obama campaign rally will be starting soon, details here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251217453

I got exactly what I voted for. I voted with my eyes wide open last time and I am doing the same thing this time. The system is a mess. It is the system we have. I refuse to pretend that Obama is anything other than exactly what he has clearly stated that he is.

I will vote enthusiastically for the candidate who is not a plutocrat, who is not a sleazeball tax cheat and habitual liar, and I desperately want Obama to win. But I have no illusions about what that means.

to women's issues and LGBT equality (at least to some degree), and passed the ACA.

But if we don't get serious about climate change and closing that gap between rich and poor we are absolutely doomed. I don't think our country in general is thinking about either of those things nearly enough.

But I can't say how I'm going to vote. (I'm in a non toss-up state. One of the other candidates on the ballot is infinitely better on Education than the DEM candidate. Which is to say she knows at least a *little* bit about it. )

The rest of his presidency has been a mixed bag from a left-right perspective.

I want him to win because of Supreme Court vacancies , things like that.

I think the party has to have a long talk with itself ---- win or lose --- after the election and decide what exactly it wants to be.

Thank you, and this is someone who called himself a moderate before the GOP and Media completely ruined that term.

I know that the moderates have become weasels, and I know the pressure will be on to help them. The idea that Rahm Emmanuel is even a hint of a possibility for 2016 makes me sick, and I am still unsure that Hillary will cool her war hawk jets. I will gladly be with you pressuring leftward, now that i know that I will not be heloping the GOP.

and I could have easily and safely voted third party since AK will most likely go to Romney, but when it came down to it, I just couldn't take the chance. I voted for Prez O and all the other dems on our ballot on 10/22. If Alaska is ever going to return to its Democratic roots, we're going to have to stand up and be counted.

I haven't been happy with Obama for a multitude of reasons, but at the end of the day, he is the best, last hope we've got to turn this country around. I have hope in a second term and I'll be there just as I was in the first to make sure our voice is heard.

But the thought of Romney/Ryan winning was just to horrible to deal with. I left our local Occupy because almost all of them said they weren't going to vote, or were going to write in someone else.

I've always been to the left of Obama, but I also know that the Supreme Court appointments were of utmost importance! So much is at stake, but who is appointed will affect this country for years to come!
