Someone please explain this to me

like im a 4 year old. why do we put so much faith in nate silver? how is his record on these elections? i know my son believes in him, but i have never remembered to ask him this. what makes him more reliable then the guy from princeton or the idiots on fox news? how does he come to his conclusions? thanks

He was also within 1 percent on the 2008 Presidential election. 1 percent of what I forgot but you can look it up.
