Since about 10 a.m. in Madison, and he's on stage in Iowa now. He's 63 frickin' years old!! The man deserves a medal. I'm 63 almost 64 and there's no way I could go like this (I don't think, anyway).
The Prez and Michelle are about to come on.

(4,909 posts)The band takes a half hour break while he plays acoustic then the band comes back on.
Hardest working man in show business.

(10,168 posts)No wonder he looks so fit. I just see him as a kind and genuine soul. He's up there with PBO because he cares what happens to all of US, and I love him for it.
Not many things I say are a must in life.
But attending a Springsteen concert is one of them. Truly an amazing experience even if you are not a fan of his music. The energy is amazing.

(10,168 posts)His dedication this past few weeks has won my heart. I only know his big hits and I like those so I'm sure I would like a concert!

(34,402 posts)touring soon after "The River" was released. They started at 7:30 and walked off the stage following their 3rd encore at 12:55 am with a 20 minute break about 9:30. Most incredible concert I've ever seen. Nobody like him.

(8,419 posts)A week before Reagan was elected. I believe his comment was, "this is some scary shit, you better take this election seriously."

(6,664 posts)Something I've wanted to do since I was in my 20s. It was the tour on which he played the entire Born to Run album and also when I discovered that I know every single word to every single song on that album. I told Mr 1gobluedem to prepare for me to burst into tears when Bruce took the stage...and I did.
And I'm so glad I got to see Clarence Clemons.

(24,324 posts)And think about Max !! My god, he used to have to put his hands in ice after gigs. Maybe still does.
Bruce came to Rochester, NY last week and I CAUGHT HIM. First time ever live.
And last year I finally saw Dylan live.
I'm now at peace. :> ))

(549 posts)There's not even the 30 min. break you mentioned. Sometimes he will do an intro to the first encore ("We Are Alive" , but there's nowhere near a 1/2 hr. break. E Street Band is unstoppable.

(10,168 posts)As I said, I've never big a huge fan like some, but I loved Dancing in the Dark (among some others). When my middle daughter, now 30!, was little we would do the dance that Bruce and Courtney Cox did that was so sweet! I loved Born in the USA too! I really was only exposed to his big commercial hits.
Thanks again for posting the link. I'm going to listen again.

(4,909 posts)Bruce with the E Street band is another thing entirely than him with the Seeger Sessions band. Love the Sessions band. It's so deep with that great horn section and all the string instruments not forget the accordion. Glad you enjoyed it.

(2,424 posts)He finally saved $18 to buy his first guitar -- "one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen in my life" -- and at age 14, Springsteen joined his first band. He was originally a Rolling Stones fanatic but gradually worked back to early rock. "We used to play the Elks Club, the Rollerdrome and the local insane asylum," he says. "We were always terrified at the asylum. One time this guy in a suit got up and introduced us for twenty minutes sayin' we were greater than the Beatles. Then the doctors came up and took him away."
This Newsweek came out my junior year in High School. I remember reading it years ago. I was a huge Springsteen fan. Playboy magazine called him the best live performer on the planet.
