Hello DU - A Call Out From Across The Pacific From An Old Friend

Last edited Tue Nov 6, 2012, 05:40 AM - Edit history (1)

Good Morning, Late Evening,

A post from the future tis 9pm on Tuesday here. I'll be online tomorrow watching and doing social media @althecat on twitter and supervising our coverage of the election. In ordinary circumstances I would think it would be impossible for a multi-millionaire corporate raider mormon bishop banker to win the presidency of the USA - however knowing what I know about the vulnerability of the US voting infrastructure and the evidence of "electoral fraud" in the US in every election since 2000 (volusia county) 2002 (georgia) 2004 (white ghosts of new york) 2006, 2008, 2010.... I am confident that your 2012 election will be hacked. The only question is how much. And how much more will Nate Silver and countless "see no evil" commentators look the other way.

Welcome to the 21st Century.

This is how it rolls.

So far.

Alastair Thompson

Nice to *see* you, hope all is well in your part of the world. I don't know if you read DU much anymore, but stolen (the hacking of) elections seems to be draw lots of on Du anymore. It once was a HUGE matter here; I know you well recall our good friend (cough) Bev and the issue of open source, proprietary info, and well... we do see David Allen here once in awhile. Huge war resulting in a loss for us all, I fear.

Control of our elections remains in the hands of corporations these many years later. I share your sentiments, and pray we both will be mistaken.

Peace.

-Melinda

American Coup: Mid-Term Election Polls vs Actuals

Tuesday, 12 November 2002, 10:25 am
Article: Alastair Thompson
In the interests of further examining the question of whether the vote in some races in the U.S. midterm elections was fixed by electronic voting machines supplied by republican affiliated companies, Scoop has done some digging. How accurate were the pollsters in advance of the US mid-term elections?

Scoop’s analysis shows that - according to the polls - the Republican Party experienced a pronounced last minute swing in its favour of between 4 and 16 points. Remarkably this last minute swing appears to have been concentrated in its effects in critical Senate races (Georgia and Minnesota) where it secured it's complete control of Congress.

Scoop has compared the results of final week polling in 19 races, with the actual results in those same races.

The full details of the Scoop analysis follow below. In summary Scoop found:

- 14 races showed a post opinion poll swing towards the Republican Party (by between 3 and 16 points);
- 2 races showed a post opinion poll swing towards the Democratic Party (by 2 and 4 points);
- In three races the pollsters were close to correct;
- The largest post opinion poll vote swings occurred in Minnesota and Georgia where pollsters got the final result wrong (see… Pollsters defend their surveys in wake of upsets for more coverage of this issue);

... which predated my introduction to DU by a few months. And yes the 2004 election was very interesting here on DU. Some fun times indeed.

Let's share.

Must keep this kicked, kids.

Gads, I did write out her name, didn't I?

Fingers crossed BUT, I think the fix is in too, Alastair. Here's hoping all of us is wrong.

Signing on now. Watching CNN... 45% of the votes in Duval County already counted apparently. So we will get some early results.

Up here in Texas there's not much of a shot of us winning but I'm behind Obama 100%. Yes we can!

Hello, Old Friend

"An open and honest examination of the flaws in electronic voting will lead us to only one possible conclusion: electronic voting machines are dangerous to democracy because there is no way of ensuring their accuracy."

Thats a telling quote there. From the beginning of this trip down a rabbit hole. Sadly there is yet to be "An open and honest examination of the flaws in electronic voting" instead we still have denial.

It is fascinating how the sharp end of the debate around this issue is in the MSM and focussing on Ohio today (where it ought to be focussed) - before the polls close.

As far as I can recall this is a first.

Haven't talked in like forever. Oh, don't forget Ohio in 2004. Of all of them I think the 2010 teabag fiasco hurt the country the most, well second to the 2000 fiasco.
