(224 posts)with the lever are the most accurate? My dad is old, and he lives in Staten Island, and they use those there.. He seems to think they are the best..

(5,032 posts)You can see what is wrong, and to rig the machine? it becomes quite obvious since there are extra gears inside.

(978 posts)I remember in elementary school before the election they would be wheel those things in to the cafeteria. And that big bar that pulled the curtain back. Something about mechanical accounting seems more reliable. You never needed a software patch for them.
I say this even though I set have set up internet based elections for our car club members to vote in new board members.

(2,921 posts)It was a clickity clackity lever pull thing, you just click on who you want to vote for. Mechanical lever voting machines, they called it back then. in 1994 when I voted for the first time.
And it was fucking reliable.
