I voted in Madison, WI (definitely a blue area) on first day of Early voting and there was a long line when I came in and several people joined the line as we waited. It went pretty smoothly. You?

(45,274 posts)that was 2 weeks ago in early voting.
By the tim my wife voted later in that week there had already been almost 600 early votes (she was #592) in a polling place that registered a total of about 1300 votes total in 2008.
There are a lot of "rich" (by local standards) Republicans in this district, though, because it has some fairly high-priced lakeshore property, so this may not be a good thing. There were also long lines for the Walker recall election last June, and we all know how that went.

(2,783 posts)and today turnout was the heaviest I've ever seen. No lines, no waiting, but every voting 'booth' was filled.
Red state, of course, but I'm in one of the bluest counties. I think we were the last or next-to-last to turn red. Here's hoping for a good result!
Albuquerque early voting rocked. My husband in and out in fifteen minutes. We are a swing state but not this year!

Also nice that the ballot isn't massive so people can read it, mark it and leave.

Sign outside just said to have Voter Registration card OR State ID available.
No hassles.

Election crew was very nice. People waited quietly to vote..
Oh,BTW- Texas has a Record number of Registered voters this year.

(19,841 posts)Even in my small precinct there was a brisk turnout. I was # 143.
Both Dems and Reps had a table of handouts outside. Nobody accosted me. Darn. I could have vented (vomited) some hate for the Rethugs.
Probably a lot nicer to vote with a kitteh.

(9,213 posts)Took me about 45 minutes to get through the line. They only had 4 voting booths so people were just sitting down at tables to fill out their ballot. They even had to call the election place to get more official pencils to use. Ran out of "I Voted" stickers at about 6:15am

Whatever else one might say about my little hamlet, they consistently DO have their shit together when it comes to voting...

2nd page had more judges than all other races but I had a judge ballot helper for the retentions, so marked the 5 "no" then sped through the rest.

Three precincts vote at a local school. They had election helpers lining up people according to their precinct and sent people in as soon as spots opened up.
I was there for no more than 10 minutes.
It was efficient, and fast.

Poll worker ladies said they were slammed at 7am with lots of people already lined up when they got there. They expect another lunch rush and then another slamming when people start getting off work this afternoon and evening.

(761 posts)Central PA, red area. Could have been even quicker as there were two to three empty voting booths at all times. I guess that's a benefit of being in a red area - a surplus of voting booths.
