Why I think President Obama is likely to be elected in spite of the "bad economy."

Last edited Tue Nov 6, 2012, 12:21 PM - Edit history (1)

Watch this video. The reason I am posting it is at 1:34.

Watch the part about the handshake and Obama.

I haven't finished watching the video yet but it looks like something we Democrats need to watch before we engage in political discussions with bullying Republicans.

Enjoy on this election day. Skills we Democrats can use.

fine, it's not a "boom", but it's a clear expansion, and unemployment has been coming down.

the dow is up around 65% since obama took office.

just because we haven't gotten back (by some measures) to the over-extended peaks prior to the crash doesn't mean it's a bad economy. in fact this is a more solid economy than we had under shrub, as the crash proved.

yes, i'd prefer to see unemployment around 6% and gdp growth around 3-4%. that would be a GREAT economy. we'll get there under obama BECAUSE we've got a good economy already.

The economy is doing much better thanks to Obama, but it isn't good yet. Obama would be the first to recognize this. This thread is not about the economy.

Watch the video and you will see WHY OBAMA IS GOING TO WIN THIS ELECTION, what it is about him that overrides all criticisms, all pessimism. You will be surprised. Watch the scene with the handshake in the UK.

Watch the handshake in front of the Downing Street residence of the UK Prime Minister. It's 100% Obama and it is why people love him and will vote for him.

I'd like to see that short portion of the video go viral. It shows who Obama really is and how much he really cares about everyone, how he views every person, even the one nobody else notices, as having value. THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS WHAT MAKES AMERICA GREAT and that is what makes Obama great. We view every person as having value -- equal value.

person of high character. This, in the end, will win - over a lesser man. (infinitely lesser in my mind)

I think too about an interview I saw with his NYC roommate. He said that Obama used to be fun, but at that point he went into a zen state and roamed the streets of NY soaking up all the true needs of the poor. He never truely belonged to a stable father, or to a stable mother, to a race, to a group....so he wrote (paraphrasing) that he would embrace all people, of all races, and walks of life and make them his own.

It all reminds me of studies in school about pragmatic existentialism. Those who thought .... no one knows what will happen to us when we die. So, your chances are better to lead a good life, and you will be rewarded for good in the end. And, if evil is the basis, nothing matters anyway. If Romney wins, he will be rewarded for evil, in my mind

People normally barely notice that doorman. I bet Obama was one of the first, if not the first, visitor to that house on Downing Street to shake his hand on the way in. And watch the Prime Minister.

It is because people sense in Obama his loving quality, his respect for every person and his courage to act on his love and his respect that, when push comes to shove, they will vote for him.

And the whole bit about his birth certificate and his race and all the personal criticism, the socialism label, etc. is to distract people from noticing and loving the person that Obama is.

I am and will be the first to criticize Obama's policies on certain human rights issues and on the economy. But what makes Obama loved is, in my opinion, the quality you see in that short scene in the video.

If Obama is not elected, the country will take a direction that will be very sad, downright evil because we will have refused the leadership of a person with human qualities that we need right now. So GOTV today.
