So back in 2010- after they took the House

I walked into work and saw two Democrats I know. They said, "things are gonna' be bad for Obama now, aren't they?".

"Yes. Yes they will", I replied. "Did you vote?"

Neither had.

Too run down to lecture, I asked them both to please promise they would not only Vote in 2012, they would each bring two people who were new voters, or who would not otherwise vote, as their penance. They agreed.

One man left my company for another career, and then I moved to Work At Home. Honestly, I forgot about it.

This morning, I get an IM from one still working at my company: 'Promise fulfilled. Me and two brand new voters!'

I was strangely elated. So I thanked him and decided to check on the other. I posted, "2010 Promise?" on the other's FB wall, not knowing if he would hit FB today, or even know what I was referencing. Less than 2 minutes later, I get "Yes, I Did!".

::: grinning :::::

Not for nothin', but that's 2 who learned about the importance of mid-terms, and 6 for the good guy

Those who are paying attention now. Please start looking at down ballot races for 2014. Promise yourself to vote EVERY ELECTION. Some states may have separate school board races, separate fire district races, county or state races in odd years. Nobody votes more than New Jersey. New Jersey, Virginia, and I think Louisiana have Gubenitorial races next year. Oh yeah, watch for run offs like in Louisiana. Some States have separate primaries for each level of race. Learn more about ballot referendum, how they get there, by petion or state legislature, how to figure out what they mean.

Political parties may also have in person elections for committee positions. If you can't find someone to support, write yourself in. Local committee positions may require 10-50 signatures in some states.

Commit to an hour a week of political education. Too much to leave to the bad guys.
