Eric Holder as head of the D.O.J. with a real bull dog who will go after the banksters, vote intimidators and white collar criminals.

(3,226 posts)However, it seems that the biggest crimes were probably those with the greatest effect, and evidently the statute of limitations is running out on those crimes that led to the broad collapse of the U.S. economy.
It's a real shame that Holder et al let those bastards go.

(36,281 posts)I'm not an attorney-- I based my comment upon news reports, especially some recent stories I've heard on NPR and Democracy Now! that noted the statute of limitations on the financial wrong-doing that contributed directly to the financial collapse five and six years ago is running out, making it unlikely that anyone will ultimately be held responsible for such things as the massive loss of wealth among the middle class.

(16,646 posts)The usual assertion is that Obama has been the one holding the leash on Holder.
I really wouldn't expect that Obama is suddenly going to become the magical radical liberal after this election. If anything he may move even further right in an attempt to achieve some goals. He's really probably only got 2 years before the whole lame duck thing starts to kick in.

(16,646 posts)Supposedly Obama sided with the DoD on the torture photos and prosecutions for torture ("I have their backs" . And with Geithner on prosecutions for bankers.

(30,674 posts)I totally agree that the DOJ is a festering mess of burrowed-in fascists whose only goal in life is to make Obama's job impossible. And Eric is a mild mannered empty suit from Corporate Village. He has no desire to make his own transition back to heavily remunerated civilian life difficult.
But a little bird told me the DOJ is just the way Obama wants it. That sounds like crazy talk to me. I doubt we will see any changes.
