Be pleasant, show your ID, vote, then go outside, call the authorities and complain. Have all your information ready, so when you do get connected, it will keep your call short and allow others to register their complaints. Don't tie up the phone. Someone else getting a busy signal might give up. The thugs like to tie up phone lines too.
The idea of soft voter suppression is to slow the process down. Every time someone throws a fit, it just makes it a longer wait for everyone else. Having a fit might make you feel good, but it may cause other people to give up and go home.
Don't fall for their ruses. Keep everything moving and let the Authorities deal with the miscreants.

(4,734 posts)just asked if it was required to vote, and when the nice little republican lady said "no" I said "well then". I then proceeded to vote as the nice black democratic lady beside her tried not to snicker when I said "We'll be fighting this".

(67,190 posts)Ask the poll worker what their name is and write it down with the exact time it happens. If you are with someone ask them to witness what is going on.
That should be enough to get the poll workers pulling this crap to stop doing it right there.
