A union question

Friend of mine in GA is being tweeted, emailed and phoned about how only union members should be allowed to work in NJ, etc., after the hurricane and how all others should be excluded. She is not a union member and is disturbed by the calls and the implication that willing workers are turned away if they aren't union. I told her to contact the GA AFL-CIO and inquire, but I am curious if anyone knows about this?

about the rumor. I'm assuming the same about the phone calls, etc., but why a non-union Dem in Georgia'? Too weird.

7. It's usually pretty close, but since they are non-union......

Additionally, non-union has nowhere near the benefits we have - our insurance is free and we can bank time to cover layoffs (could be laid off tomorrow and be covered for 6 months without spending a dime.) We have several different retirement/annuity plans that all work concurrently and are all entirely employer funded - the only deductions on my paycheck are taxes. Union gets paid double time for all storm work. While their hourly wage may be roughly the same (and sometimes even a little more) their net income is significantly lower.
