The workplace on election day---hilarious and disgusting

This is an accounting firm, very conservative, very wingnut. I will start with the hilarious. One of the partners has the loudest mouth about politics and hates Dems....well, he was shocked when he went to vote and couldn't because he had never registered. Never. This was the first time he planned to ever vote, and he thought that he could just vote. So he didn't just make a total ass out of himself because of this, but everyone there is so pissed at him for never voting before. I was even told that I was no longer the most vile person in the office anymore.

Then there was the Romney/Ryan sign on my door with a "Curmudgeoness supports" written in pen on it. But since no one will see it but them, I didn't mind that.....that was one sign that wasn't out on the streets.

Now, the disgusting. We had a break for cake for someone's birthday, so we all were in the kitchen talking. The other partner was telling us about how cute his kids are.....they were waiting in a driveway for his wife and his kids jump out of the car, run across the street to a yard where they have some Obama/Biden yard signs, and they start tearing up the signs and breaking them up. Sigh, I was so disgusted. I asked if he punished them and let them know that this is totally unacceptable behavior, and he said he couldn't because he was laughing so hard.

The things I have to deal with just for a paycheck!

But it's all good. They will not be happy campers when the dust settles and Obama wins.

I couldn't believe this "small business owner" was so damned stupid.....well, yes I could.....he is a staunch "Republican". Or at least he talks a good talk.

That made my day.

I often think back to my 8 year support staff stint in the audit division of Arthur Andersen. This was back in the days when leveraged buyouts were just beginning. Don't know for sure but it wouldn't surprise me if AA&Co. was helping Bain stalk and kill thriving companies back in those dark ages. I know for sure our office was known for its prowess in LBOs.

All of our partners were pukes too, of course, but they really didn't make a show of it, thank goodness.

This is a much smaller firm, and they are much less professional about things. But to be fair, I came here from another larger local firm when the one accountant went out on his own....and we had argued politics before we left that firm. So this is just a continuation. But it is sad to be surrounded (almost) by wingnuts. (Almost, because they don't know that there is at least one other person who keeps his opinions to himself with them, but I know. )
