Just like the GOP and rape capitalists intended the jobs will return when their value is equal to third world wages. Now that the Chinese and other foreign nationals are demanding better pay, our American? corporations will bring back jobs. Those jobs will be in the $8 to $12 an hour variety with very limited or no benefits. Most of those jobs will be contract or subcontract for a middle man taking most of the economic benefit.
The work force has been conditioned by the media to accept the fact that an $8 an hour job with no future is better than nothing at all.What is ironic is the the voting public, particularly boomers voted GOP consistently. They were anti union and anti government regulation. They were pro rape capitalism and pro Republican all along. They were anti socialism.
Now they are wondering what the H happened to their future. Now that they have destroyed the future of their children by voting GOP for 30 years, they are blaming Obama for what they themselves caused. We now have a completely broken employment system where any semblance of job security is virtually gone.
How much more deranged can we be before we understand that unless we go more progressive as a nation that we will economically fail even more miserably if we continue this insane course?

(10,602 posts)They have a better idea. Let the children pick produce by giving them agricultural passes from school. Idea from a GOP legislator. Or better yet I believe Alabama wants to put prisoners from the "pens" pick produce at a few cents and hour to pay for their toilet paper I suppose.

(11,689 posts)Since we don't have teachers teaching from Howard Zinn's book and having additional readings from Marx and Debs and Chomsky, we can get a lot more deranged. But the Republicans have that figured out too. If they privatize education and stuff it full of rote memorization and standardized tests, they can keep the voting public bamboozled into voting for them.

(576 posts)what the hell can we do. Yeah protests are nice or building a grassroots movement is nice, but we are fighting against a huge propaganda machine whose minions are armed to the teeth. I think we lost our country. This grand experiment in the new world has failed due to greed.

Do not allow them to quoit 'just jobs'. Always ask about and say Living-Wage-Jobs. The three words are tied together into one multi-syllable word. The working class cannot have anyone of them alone without the other two.

Again these are in constant 1982 dollars. Actuals were $59os and $750s. These are medians not averages - unskewed by increasing incomes of high earners.
