Democrat Paul Penzone conceded the Maricopa County sheriffs race to Sheriff Joe Arpaio shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, but his concession came with a message for the longtime Republican incumbent: the community is watching.
Our sheriff needs to be transparent, he needs to treat everyone with dignity and respect, Penzone said to a room full of supporters. People in this community are going to be watching. Theyre going to be holding him accountable.
