(8,079 posts)This is the last time I will be voting in a national election. I am in my 60's and have concluded that, if this is the kind of governing Americans want, they should have it...and all its consequences.
Sour grapes you say? Perhaps. But after four years of the most abysmally failed government with consistently high unemployment, 16 trillion dollars in national debt, downgrading of our bonds and monetary system with printing of dollars by the Fed, attacks against freedom of religion, a loss of American leadership in the world, class warfare, homosexuality embedded in our fabric, our nuclear family deconstructed by government policies, gun running to Mexico and lies about it before Congressional hearings, refusal to protect Americans serving in our embassies across the globe, an energy policy that has tripled the price of gasoline at the pump, a Justice Dept that treats people not according to an equal application of the law but according to politics, a politicized press that is derelict in adequately informing the people about its government, attacks against free markets and capitalism, and on and on and on...
If given all this, the American electorate is either too blind to see or thinks that this exemplifies good government, then have at it. Just count me out.
But, some day perhaps people will wake up. My guess is that it will be too late and things most cherished - civic values long held dear - will be gone forever.

(32,086 posts)Last night, I realized that my brother is one of those freeper-type nutbags. I had been hoping that his antics were just him trying to stir up shit. But, last night, he went into full melt-down mode. It was sad to watch. I blame the wingnut he married last year.

(8,079 posts)All Im saying is, look, weve had one instance where something was prematurely called, Rove said, alluding to the 2000 election in which media outlets declared Al Gore the winner in Florida, apparently making him president. After weeks of delay and a protracted recount, the state went to George W. Bush, who was advised by the self-same Rove.
Rove said his objection was based not on politics but on a close study of Ohio and information from insiders who said that uncounted votes from rural counties still gave Romney a chance at victory. He claimed his sources said that urban Cincinnati votes had been tallied but that the suburban exurbs and rural areas could still tilt to the Republican.

(533 posts)I studied the voting map of Ohio all night. No way was there enough rural votes at that time to counter what Cleveland had left to show, no way. At that time, when Rove was having his porky pig problem with "that is all folks," it was 49-49 with Prez ahead on the vote 60,000. It finished 51-48. So he was dead wrong, and it was obvious at that time.
In fact, I think the media was late calling the state.

(3,626 posts)and voting machine tampering and other shenanigans he orchestrated hadn't worked. And maybe he was in panic mode because everything that he'd promised those millionaires in exchange for their big buck donations wasn't going to come true. Couldn't happen to a more deserving asshole.

(37,161 posts)For instance, while Obama did say the words "you didn't build that", what Romney claimed was the context of that statement was a lie. You cannot have listened to any part of that Obama speech beyond the one surgically-extracted sentence and believe Romney's characterization of it without revoking one's status as a native English speaker. You'd have to be relying on a machine translation, machines named Fox, Rush, etc.

Screw yourselves, rape lovers and homophobes! Your sexual perversions have been REJECTED by We The People!
I LOVE MY COUNTRY AND AM SO PROUD TO WITNESS THESE VICTORIES!!
On edit: I misread the OP and just generally gloated over Republican losses. I don't have cable so can't post any quotes from Fox, I refuse to go to Freepertown under any circumstances, and all the Repukes I know on fb are oddly MIA this morning. Bwahaahaaa!

Every conservative should refuse to go to work... See how fast the "takers" survive without us "makers"!
Way to go Ohio. Screwed the whole nation. SHIT! Sorry, this election has exacerbated my tourettes. Now what? Might as well stop worrying about the national debt, we will never get out of that mess. And I try to find a silver lining in everything. Guess in this disappointment I will just be thankful I already have a job. Sorry if you're unemployed, not much hope now. This is only my opinion, no need for hateful replies. Obviously more than half of the country is happy with the way things are going.

Well it appears that the magic underwear millionaire was defeated last night, and am I gloating about it? YOU'RE GOD DAMN RIGHT I AM:
When YOUR candidate stood before the people of this country and LIED CONTINUOUSLY, YOU supported him. We defeated him.
When YOUR candidate changed positions on issue after issue to say anything to get elected, YOU supported him. We defeated him.
When these slimy Tea-bagging assholes denigrated OUR President at every turn, YOU supported them. We defeated them.
When these low-life billionaire fascists attempted to buy this election, YOU saw "nothing wrong with that", and YOU supported them. We defeated them.
When the fascists on the Supreme Court passed Citizens United, (one of the single most damaging pieces of legislation to ever threaten American Democracy), YOU sat back and let it happen. All the while supporting the assholes that were eroding the very foundation of our constitution. We defeated them.
When brain-dead, pant-loads like Ted Nugent, and Donald Trump made their veiled threats of armed revolution, YOU cheered them. We will DAMN SURE defeat them. The American people spoke out against the damage YOU asshole conservatives have inflicted on this country for decades now. We defeated YOUR smarmy, corpora-fascist, arrogant, plutocrat, thief of a candidate last night, and I for one will be glad to remind YOU of that. Constantly. FOUR MORE YEARS FUCKERS!!!

Stop Whining! Republican establishment, shunned Dr. RON PAUL. TREATED HIS SUPPORTERS LIKE SH8. Didn't let him speak, when he qualified to at the convention. Allienated Hispanics, and they had a chance to have one on the ticket. They threatened abortion right and ran right, but with a moderate record. Oh and told gays, you don't count. Wait for 4 years, support real conservative leadership while you wait...and get educated on Ron Paul and his message!
because Ron Paul is so minority friendly
