life has gotten worse. In 2010, our legislature turned red for the first time since reconstruction. Now our governorship is red and many of us have been gerrymandered as far as Congress goes to where our votes no longer count. There were some real losers in the elections of 2012 including North Carolina families with children with special needs and other members. Don't forget us as our lives take a dive.

(24,890 posts)I was very surprised that weasel McCrory got so popular in the eastern counties. He might be a one termer; he is NOT popular in Meck. Co.

(31,525 posts)Mark Pryor is the only Democrat that we still have in Congress and our Democratic governor has just two more years to serve due to term limits. I don't know where we'll go from there.

(11,243 posts)I am here with you. Just logged out of Facebook, in part due to the McCrory thing. I think if he governs with his Teapublican buddies, he will be a one termer. Most of the people who voted for him seem to think he is a good guy and a moderate. I am all like, Have fun with Voter ID laws and figurative rape for women who want to exercise their right to abortion laws that will result from this. And if he does govern as a moderate, the Tea Crazies are going to have a fit. So it should be interesting.

I'm trying to focus on Obama's win to take my mind off it, but things are going to suck for everyone in the path of the Republican destruction machine.

(8,352 posts)I was born in TN, but I grew up in western NC. My lesbian sister just left the state literally on Monday to be near the rest of the family in MD.
I am still stuck in AZ where we had a only a few good results but for the most part still have a huge group of Tea Party assholes running the show.
I am relieved on a national level at Obama's win. I am still quite nervous what Brewer and the GOP will do here on a local level.
Hang in there!
