I want Nancy Pelosi back!

Can we do it? The thought of The Boner just spoils it for me. I can just see them trying to impeach, among other things.

I'm not going to shut up until I hear some answer from you guys. I don't post very often, but the House thing has me really wondering how we can turn it around.

Democrat in 2009 and 2010. Her legislative record those years was great, so much of it died in the broken Senate.

Hell, yes, I want her back.

We do not have a 60-seat majority to defeat Republican filibusters.

Even if we did have 60 seats, three or four of those Democrats are right wing and would likely water down any progressive legislation to the point where it becomes a wash, like the deletion of the Public Option from the ACA.

Pelosi took impeachment "off the table" regarding the serious crimes of one of the more egregious people to ever be POTUS. she also took single payer off the table, prior to negotation of HCR-- thus insuring we got weak legislation,

I'm not interested in this sort of "leadership".

I hated that. My subject line was more or less to catch attention. I've been posting to hear ideas about how to gain House seats, and no on wants to talk about anything but how excited Ed Shultz is, or what Bo the dog eats for breakfast.

I'd still take Pelosi back. I honestly believe someone put a knife to her back when it came to laying off of impeachment. She looked distressed in a way that set off my alarms. But that's another subject.

problem is during the bush years, the Dems caved on more or less everything-- including going along with TWO wars of choice, costing us, ohh, $3 Trillion dollars so far?

again, that's not leadeship. it's status quo nonsense

I just want you to know that even though I mentioned Pelosi, I'm about as aware of the things that did and didn't happen as anyone. I wanted Kucinich for president. But without going into a long diatribe, I just want to move the House to the left. I have to add that even though Dennis speaks for me more than Obama, they would have minced Kucinich. Whereas, Obama came out of the den intact.

I'm one for extremes. And it makes politics a disgusting thing for me. I hate compromise. I know how things could be. Yet it would appear that a Kucinich presidency would have been a big failure. Not because of us or him, but because of the emotional cripples that make up our right wing opponents. And I still think that's why America didn't impeach Bush, and even send him to the Hague.

So, back to idea of getting more House seats.

Cheers!

It seems like a massive state by state task. But there must be people who are already out there. Like Alan Grayson was. I hate to think of the work it could take, and only having a year or so to pull this off.

Until we get that done, we are stuck with hard to displace republicans, almost exclusively from the south and interior west.

So we have to put resources together at the state level to challenge the R's in the House.

I'm a beginner at this. But I know we had the House. So we can get it back. And Obama is not at his full potential without it.

Now I want to get more into specifics as to how we get this kind of thing moving.

You only need a simple majority in the House to pass a bill.

The problem is if a third of your caucus happens to be right wing Democrats, it narrows the scope of what you can actually push through with your majority. The right wingers in your caucus, in effect, become gatekeepers that can prevent passage of progressive legislation.

Nancy Pelosi took single-payer health insurance off the table because she didn't have enough votes to pass it in the House. If she did put it up to a vote, a bunch of right wing Democrats likely would've voted with the Republicans to kill it.

The Public Option was the compromise, and Nancy Pelosi did hold up her end of the bargain and passed a version of the ACA with a Public Option. It was the more conservative Senate that ended the Public Option that year.

Working within. We'd still end up with a Speaker who's a Republican. I'm not sure what that would accomplish. But it's another brainstorm idea.

I wish I had been paying attention when Reagan was elected. I simply dropped out. Now I'm finally getting involved. It's a bit late. Two or three wars late. Better late than never.

We didn't in 2010, which is the only reason Pelosi won't be speaker in January. Not showing up meant Republicans got to gerrymander themselves a majority.
