First, Republicans, unfortunately were not "disintegrating as a party". They won (or stole) 7 of the next twelve Presidential elections, including 1964. They are currently in control of the House and poised to perhaps take the Senate as well in the next election.

Secondly 80% of House Republicans voted for the Civil Rights act of 1964, compared to only 61% of House Democrats. The same was true in the Senate. Only 6 Republicans voted against cloture, a mere 18% while 23 Democrats voted against it or 34%.

Of course, that was more because of region than it was party. Breaking it down regionally shows that more Democrats voted for it in each region, but a greater percentage of Democrats were southern. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964

...one could look at those statements in contrast to today's Republicans and see a "disintegrating" party.

They've managed to fool many Americans, which is likely a result of media complicity and the influence of money in politics.

Still, on Republicans and voting, LBJ was right.

in the Kennedy murder; along with GHW Bush and Richard Nixon -- both of whom were in Dallas that day.

I give him no credit for saying anything good. He never should of been President.

wouldnt they want to be far away from dallas so as to avoid accusations? Is not like all three needed to personally pulled the trigger.

But there is that picture of what appears to be a young GHW Bush in front of the Texas Schoolbook depository when the Dallas police were locking it down.

I ascribe to the notion that people in power are arrogant enough to tempt fate by being close to where they need to have a strong hand on the command and control of a delicate plot like that one.

That is all I am going to say on this at the moment. I have a long time interest in this horrible crime, but I am going to wait until I have been here at the Underground a while before debating this issue.

I do appreciate your critical thinking on this however.

That is stupid. You should be able to say what you want when you want. People who tell you to 'be quiet' because you just joined are assholes. This should be open forum, not a website based on some post-count class structure.

cheers.

to appreciate the wisdom of sizing up the situation before walking into the kill zone of an ambush.

I also know 9-11 was an inside job, and have been sanctioned elsewhere on the Internet for speaking the truth.

So you will have to forgive me, I am somewhat gun shy. Let me get the lay of the land here and I promise to engage you in lively debate on the topic if the situation dictates it is safe to.

I am making a note of your name for future reference. Nice to meet you BTW,
