There may be some benefits over the next 8 years, but population growth is in the cities largely, with Latinos and Asians the fastest growing components.

IMO the country has become much more progressive, and as we go forward more and more states in red country will come into play.

Obama won by a landslide. 20 EV means nothing. The next cycle several more states will become swing states that can more than offset anything they do in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Hell, Jeb Bush even made the statement that TX will be blue in four years.

I don't know anyway to stop this from happening. I vote in all my elections but the turnout in 2010 was low and we got killed! When I voted in this election, I voted straight Dem ticket. Before I confirmed my ballot I noticed Kim Ward, who is a Republican, was also running as a Democrat on the ticket. This is allowed in PA. I voted for the Independent but needless to say Kim had no real competition.

The needs and expectations of government are different, depending on whether a person lives in a rural or urban area. Nebraska and Maine, two polar opposites politically, already do this.

Nebraska, has always been an agriculture state, and always went red. Both parties, during the election process, assume it will stay that way, and ignore it. However, there are less people farming today, and cities are growing.

I was frustrated at work tuesday night, listening to all of the older people wanting Romney, but than I went to my grand-daughters b-day party, and all of the young people were for Obama. After wards, I went to the apt. I was moving out of, and the young guy moving in, announced Obama won, his friend, was elated.

I can see, within a generation, Democrats taking 40% of the electoral college here, which would reflect, the population base. Bottom line, every district should matter, we should never be looking at a handful of states, to decide who are president is. Which is why, I don't believe in Pennsylvania, this will pass. They won't want to give up the "swing" state status.
