But she stopped voting for the GOP back during GWB, decided they were too corrupt and didn't have her vote anymore so she doesn't cancel my Dad's vote anymore.

I'm dealing with a 90 year old father, addicted to FOX News. When he votes, it's more like a Nielssen survey rather than an exercise in democracy. He just likes to be entertained.

Can we get some more specifics as to exactly what happened, this might help us understand how to deprogram others.

The bubble was so completely detached from reality leading into the election that even the hardcore brainwashed FOX viewers couldn't help but notice when it popped.

Once that happens, once they lose faith in their oracles, they become capable of smelling the BS.

What is interesting is that post election, there is an epiphany that Fox's reporting about the election and how Romney and Obama were doing/level of support - that they had it exactly wrong - they were living in a bubble.

So the epiphany was not about the issues - it was about Fox not knowing what was happening in the US, in the battleground states, etc.

I think the epiphany will come in stages - the first has happened - their statements about Romney's support and Obama's support were wrong. Horribly wrong. They looked stupid, ignorant at the core.

The next wave of epiphany may be, hey, Fox tells me Obama is bad. Yet more than 50% of the country voted for him. Why, maybe I need to understand why. It reminds of what Republicans said after the first debate - that Obama's campaign and the DNC spent millions trying to define Mitt, but once Mitt went thru the first debate, people saw him as not crazy, not wacko - and so people said, oh, he is not who the commercials and the Democrats say he is. Perhaps some will actually listen to what Obama says, instead of listening to Sean Hannity tell them what Obama says -- perhaps they will judge for themselves about who Obama is and what he says.

(an aside, my single biggest issue with news today is we don't see the person speaking, we hear a pundit telling us what the person is saying while the person is on screen but their voice is muted)


The third and most important epiphany may or may not come - which is any epiphany on issues. Will people will say, hey, Fox was wrong about who would win the election, their people had wrong information about the polls and the support and the momentum, they said Obama was crazy, and I just heard him speak and he was actually able to put sentences together and spoke of his love of this country, maybe what (fox and the conservative media) is telling me about global warming, the debt, social security, the so called fiscal cliff, is maybe not complete and maybe not accurate? Maybe I should see what others have to say and drum roll.... decide for myself based on information I gather from various sources.

Was a lifelong Republican until 2004 when she voted for Kerry, then Obama in 08 (I am a lifelong Dem voter BTW)

She would never vote for any of these current Republicans and is just as outraged as the rest of us.

She has advanced stage cancer and went out to vote for Obama on Tuesday in spite of the fact that she was afraid she wouldn't be able to stand up for very long at the precinct.

This latest round of chemo has really wiped her out, so she didn't realize she should have requested an absentee ballot instead of having to physically vote.
