CA instituted a truely independent system for drawing political boundaries.
Here is the result. Republicans lose 3 seats and Bilbray and Lungren are still trailing.
Voting reform and independent redistricting reform are the two most dramatic process reforms that will have fatal consequences for the Republican Party.
As in many things lets hope that CA leads the way.
Freepers, Cave Dwellers and other Reactionaries, how do you like those numbers?

California has entered "a period of Democratic political control so far-reaching that the dwindling number of Republicans in the Legislature are in danger of becoming mere spectators at the statehouse," the AP reports.
"Democrats hold the governorship and every other statewide office. They gained even more ground in Tuesday's elections, picking up at least three congressional seats while votes continue to be counted in two other tight races... The party also secured a supermajority in one, and possibly both, chambers in the Legislature."
Said GOP strategist Steve Schmidt: "Republican leaders should look at California and shudder. The two-party system has collapsed."

California Republican Party Registration Dips Below 30 Percent
SACRAMENTO, Calif. California has reached an all-time high of 18.2 million registered voters, while the number of registered Republicans has fallen below 30 percent, signaling a worrisome decline for the state's minority party, officials said Friday.
In its final update before Tuesday's general election, the secretary of state's office said the number of registered voters has increased by 950,000 since the 2008 presidential contest. Officials attribute that surge in part to the state's new online registration system, which helped many young, Democratic-leaning Californians sign up to vote this fall.
That system was seen as a threat to the California Republican Party, which has struggled to retain members, let alone add them. The secretary of state announced that Republicans now make up 29.3 percent of the state's electorate, compared with 31.4 percent in 2008.
This appears to be the lowest ebb for the party since records have been available.

Real democracy...Had that been the case the Gobbers would not have had control of the House during much of the 90's.
