Apparently when she was in Croatia or Bosnia or someplace like that in the 90s, doing a morale tour of the troops, someone told her there might be some snipers around, and so she ducked getting off the tarmac and making it to her car. In a presser, she once recounted this as there actually being a sniper there, an understandable misinterpretation of one event on a very busy day. Some of the troops around there at the time say there weren't any snipers, that the army wouldn't have exposed the First Lady to that kind of risk.

I was vehemently against Clinton getting the nomination in 2008. If she runs in 2016, which I doubt, I'll almost certainly back someone else. That said, her misremembering a tiny incident a few minutes in duration from 12 years before is ridiculously inconsequential in the face of her years of public service on numerous fronts. She's been under figurative sniper fire from the moment her husband was elected governor 30 years ago. The fact that her memory would scramble events in entering a literal battle zone is normal psychological fuzziness of minor events.

We all do that, by the way. If I asked you this year about a minor moment from your life in 2000 during a time that you were under a lot of stress, you would probably get serious details wrong too. It's how the human brain works. Trying to spin this as some sort of lie/conspiracy/character flaw, or anything worthy of the suffix "Gate" is partisan hackery.

This is pretty much the same path that Hillary followed, running for Senate in Bill's last year as President. It would nullify the "experience" argument before 2024. Michelle is doing too good of a job making that one of the warmest public families under the Sun. And, no it's not sexist. She's kind of like our Nurturer in Chief.

Preference for POTUS is HRC, but she has had to deal with sexism and faux gay bigotry even beyond the racism of Obama. I have no doubt she can get the nomination if she wants it. But the long knives will be out in even a more brutal way.

Franken, Grayson, Baldwin, and Dean (out of the names I recognize) will lose in a landslide. Castro and Booker would both be good choices if they ever become governors or Senators. Honestly, there aren't a lot of people who I think will be good choices and winners for the Democrats in 2016. It will be a tough election to win.

I prefer Biden still, but I wouldn't complain with O'Malley. I think a lot of people on the rest of the list would have a tough time getting popular support.

Dems really need to be realistic in who can win, not who we just "like".

Unfortunately, I still do not believe that having a woman on the ticket, makes it a winnable one (oh boy, ducking the flaming arrows!). NOTHING against our women...I would LOVE to see a female President AND VP of the United States in my lifetime.

BUT...let's be realistic.

I think a Governor has the best chance, but can't think of any right now that really fit the bill. It's four years away and we have 2014 and and a long hard road ahead of us right now.

The fact that Warner has experience in the Senate AND as Governor is something very unique that he could sell to the public.

Party, principles, people nothing mattered at all to him beyond his raging, unquenchable ambition. Fortunately, while he had the looks, he lacked the intellect and cunning to see how the real jackals in his chosen world wound him up and killed him for their own ambitions.

Lat time I saw him he was a very bitter audio store manager in LA.
