List of all Progressive talk radio stations by State!!!

http://streamingradioguide.com/streaming-radio.php?format=68&radio-format=Progressive Talk&includeAM=on&includeFM=on&includeHD=&includeLPFM=&country=

I too was very discouraged when KPOJ was changed to a sports station. I used to listen to that station all the time. Last night I spent lots of time on DU writing down all the stations other DUers suggested to replace KPOJ on our streaming station list. Then today I found this "guide" that lists ALL Progressive radio stations. Their master guide lists a stations by format, and I went to the Progressive Talk format for the one linkede above. If you're interesteed in the master guide, here's a link for it as well.

There is no progressive voice on the radio here. The right wing nuts have all moved to FM
radio. There are two FM stations here that carry right wing insanity ALL DAY EVERY DAY.

It is appalling that there is not one liberal voice on the airwaves to counter all the lies and
hate being spewed 24/7.

The one listed station in Fl is too weak to be of any good here and with all the big mouth on
the right coming in loud clear on FM, why would anyone bother with static am stations?

Saddens me to death that we cannot get our voices heard where they are needed most.

and 1400 or so religious, 1700 or so country.

I did not think you said there were too many.
I was merely commenting on the ratio of stations when I read the link.
It was an eye opener to realize how few progressive stations there are now.
We cannot get decent radio reception out here, and I miss the "good old days" when I could get
NPR, back when it was more progressive.
both PBS and NPR have become very conservative over the last few years.

Sun Nov 11, 2012, 12:18 PM
Nov 2012

A couple of years ago I was driving from Long Island, NY to Lexington, KY to attend the annual yearling sales there. I started out listening to WWRL in NY, a progressive station that has Mark Riley, Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann and Randi Rhodes in the daily line up. Then I get to MD/VA where there was only Pigboy and Beck.
Then I get through south western VA and southern West Virginia where, literally in the middle of nowhere, the only voice on the airwaves was Glen Beck.

The sw VA and southern WVA area is very mountainous and rural. But somehow Fox news had managed to get a signal as clear as day to all the people living there. There was nothing but static on any other station. The fox station was so clear it sounded like Beck was in the passenger seat.

How come we cannot get our voices heard? How come we cannot get progressive businesses to invest in
radio? The most ignorant, backwards voters will continue to be that way if they never hear a peep from
some other point of view.

The particular Beck rant that day was one of his super crazy ones. He was speaking in a low, conspiratorial voice claiming that us liberals were coming for them and their way of life and to prove his point he was reading from
a SDS tract from the '60s. Holy shit the man is crazy.

Only right wing radio and Christian music. We finally found a station that played top hits. The choices were awful. After that, whenever I rent a car that I drive a long distance I make sure to get satellite radio.

In 2009, in my city San Francisco, the local progressive station changed to right wing talk. Just recently we got back Thom Hartmann. I got a satellite radio for my car after that.

The music programming is also top notch, especially on Tuesday afternoons. There's even a free KPFT iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad app in the Apple Store for your listening pleasure.

Dec 2018

I also live in the PDX area and was also disheartened by KPOJ changing to a sports station. And that was the only Liberal/Progressive talk radio station in the Portland OR area.

Just a few minutes ago, I was looking for another such station that could be received over the Internet, and was sad to see that Clearchannel had shut down ALL liberal talk radio stations on the Left Coast. LA and SF in particular. Converted all of them to sports stations. But kept fascist talk radio going, lots of Rush Limbaugh and gang. Obviously, it is deliberate. He who owns radio station calls the tune.

BTW, what is a good Internet station for Ed Schultz et al?

Obviously, I've been out of it and offline for a while So much has happened in the interim.
Now, I don't even know the names of the new programs and new hosts. I recognize the name of Thom Hartman -- I used to listen to him, but that's it. Ed is dead and Randy Rhodes is retired, and Al Franken is another story, in and out of the Senate and gone. So who is new and good?

To others, thanks for the messages. Alas, I don't have a satellite radio, although the idea is intriguing. What I have is a good 4G data connection to AT+T, and I'm listening to radio stations from all over the world with the Firefox plug-in called "Worldwide Radio". I recommend it highly. It's unbelievable how many radio stations you can pull in from so many countries. I've been listening to Germany a lot because I used to live in Germany many years ago.
And the BBC is good too.

But when I try to listen to the USA and find liberal or progressive political programming -- nothing. I mean literally nothing. I've been going down lists, including this web page, for the last two days, and NOTHING works. Every channel has been converted to sports programming or Spanish language or the domain name is for sale. Apparently, the right-wing billionaires have been very successful in getting rid of voices that they don't like.

BTW, I'm running Linux, so apps or players that run under Windoze won't work. So far, it's YouTube and Worldwide Radio. But YouTube isn't live.

So I'm still searching. Have a good day now, and a Merry Christmas.

Has some great shows...they stream on dish network, some cable companies and the internet. Stephanie Miller is wonderful, Bill Press, Rising Up With Sonali...several others. I know that some people here don’t care for ThomHartmann and Amy Goodman but there are LlOTS of other progressive programming options on FSTV. Podcasts are another viable option...Preet Bharara, Bob Cesca, Rachel Maddow and zillions of others...many are free.

Welcome to DU.

Thanks for that list of things to search. I recognize ThomHartman and Rachel Maddow, but the rest are new to me.
I don't get dish or cable, but do get internet, pretty well. So podcasts are a strong possibility. I've never listened to
podcasts, so I'll have to figure out how to do it. On Linux. I'm actually a very old computer programmer -- been doing
it for 40 years -- but have never listened to podcasts, so we shall see how that works out.

Have a good day and a Merry Christmas.

We don’t have any listed under progressive talk - we do however have an NPR ( classical) that plays out of Lincoln. It’s still got news and interviews but no strictly political shows I know of.

I do like that they always say stuff like ‘ The president claims, without evidence.... ‘ when they quote something the asshole said.

I clicked the first link, and it shows 11 liberal stations in the whole country. And the header calls them "Stations dedicated to advancing the ideas of Karl Marx and Woodrow Wilson".

And at the bottom of the list the footer has a count-down clock for the "glorious" time left for "Donald J Trump to make America Great Again".

The site lists 401 rightwing stations, but that list's header praises them.

I see some bias there. . .
