I'm sensing Arizona and Texas will follow within the next few election cycles

Problem is that turnout is always lower in off year elections. The FL Dem Party must start now organizing to GOTV. We can turn FL into a blue state! If that happens it is game over given its size. The FDP, unfortunately, is one of the worst state parties in the Union. I give most credit to Obama For America.

A lot depends on how much the people of Florida, and Dem Party, want to get rid of the Fraud Governor. Scott has refused to comply with the ACA which the people said, loud and clear, that they want by the Amendment's defeat.

It won't make our local situation better, because this will just maintain the old guards in Florida which have corrupted the networks which are supposed to protect the most vulnerable in a community. But it's what Obama, and probably DU will push for.

There are no more rigorous anti-smoking supporters than former smokers, no more zealous congregants than religious converts...perhaps the same would hold true for Crist if he become a Democrat.

This is about government corruption where no one was held accountable.

However, neither party ever holds anyone accountable....republicans don't believe in it and Democrats are afraid of it. Do you think Nancy Pelosi would have gone along with throwing Charlie Rangel to the dogs if she didn't know he was in a safe district? She miscalculated with Anthony Weiner, but received a reprieve last week. Meanwhile, the deplorable Alcee Hastings was just reelected in his safe Democratic district. The man is a disgrace and has been in congress since his district was created after the census of 1990. Just saying...

Robert Caro has written a wonderful biography about Lyndon Johnson...4 volumes with a 5th in the works. The corruption in Democratic Texas politics was hair raising. Do you really think that everyone in NYC is a Democrat without a bit of grease on the wheels? Perhaps I am overly cynical, but the corruption of individual politicians is not my major concern.... I worry much more about the corruption of the process as in voter suppression and rigged elections.

Hell, if Bill Clinton supported Kendrick Meek, I am sure Obama will pinch in, the key word is, the Florida Democratic party. Yes, we won the state, but there are many who frankly need to either pull their weight or get out of the way, a prime example being Alex "I concede" Sink and her husband.

Not aimed at you, lpbk2713, but I am amazed at the DUers who keep pushing Crist as our next governor candidate worthy of Democratic support while so many hate Rubio for his association with Jeb Bush.

Crist is as much a Jeb Bush disciple as Rubio is - why would ANY Democrat want to put Crist back in Tallahassee in a position of power? I'm going to be a broken record about this. I hated Crist as governor. Yes, Scott is worse but Crist is NOT a remedy.

We Floridians need to look for a real Democratic candidate to support and we need to find one SOON.

And since we can hope there will be a huge mid-term turnout to DUMP Scott, we need to push for throwing out as many Republican and Tea Party Representatives as possible! We can give President Obama a more responsive Congress for his last two years in office if we work hard enough!

it is not as red as it used to be. I smiled lots when I saw the Dorworth and Plakon losses. Dems made major in roads in the state legislation this election cycle. I think Pena lost too. He is jerk.

Dummy Scott didn't get his way. Actually he failed on every thing this time. Don't worry he will be gone soon. He is up for re-election in 2014. If he runs again he will lose badly.

But this all makes me happy as I live in Seminole county and I did get off my butt this year volunteered for Obama. I will be doing the same for all dem candidates in 2014. I want Seminole county to join Orange and Osceola counties in being BLUE!

The 17th runs through parts of Broward and Miami-Dade counties both of which voted overwhelmingly for President Obama. 67.11% v 32.24% in Broward and 61.58% vs 37.88% in Miami-Dade.

More than a month before the election, Mike's brother, Steve, knocked on my door asking for my vote and asking me to spread the word and get others involved. I, personally, convinced three friends who weren't planning on voting to do so (They all voted straight Dem, too).

My wife is from upstate NY and in the past has asked me why I don't want to move up there. Part of the reason is the weather. The other part of the reason is that my vote is best spent here in FL.

The voters of Florida made the country aware of the extreme efforts made by "elected" officials to suppress their vote ... and they voted.

I fear for my state now. True it just barely went for Rmoney, but we are now, with an all Repug government, trying to be AL! The best thing about NC, beside the climate and landscape, was it wasn't the deep south. Now, it looks like it's turning into crap. So happy that the Supreme Court justices will be able to rule on the state workers' 3% of pay taken by Scott beginning last July. State workers won the first round, and Scott appealed to the Supreme Court. Then he tried to switch out the judges. So very grateful that the people of Florida did not fall for it, and voted "yes" to retain them. Three percent might not sound like much, but between that money and no raise in years, so many of us are unable to keep up with our bills. The cost of living in Florida has skyrocketed as it has everywhere else.

I haven't seen this kind of repudiation of "political think" since Reagan. Look at what happened around the country...marriage equality was approved in (I think) 4 states after going 32-0 for the last few years. Two states legalized marijuana, without the "for medical use" excuse. It's now OK for adults to spark one up just 'cause. Democrats didn't lose a single seat in the Senate, and picked up 2 more. While most of the tea-baggers did get re-elected to the House, a couple of the WORST got the boot, specifically Joe Walsh and Alan West, and Bachmann only won by the skin of her teeth. Barack won by a margin in the electoral college that Bush could only dream of. Voter suppression attempts were shot down. SO MUCH of the Tea Party/Republican bullshit was just plain faced down.,

This election was historical, and not just because the first African-American President was re-elected, which, as we all know, was harder than getting him elected. The way the country is thinking has changed. More people are turning away from the "me first and only" meme of the Republicans, and realizing we are all together in this. As Obama says so often, "This is the United States of America!"

I'm already enjoying looking forward to 2016 when our economy is strong, our people are healthier, our schools have better funding, our soldiers are home, and either Hillary or Joe have BOTH Obama and Big Dawg stumping for them.

my county went entirely red. BUT, the races were closer than ever before. So I have hope. Regarding the 2014 governor's race, Crist is a problem. His third-party candidacy in 2010 gave us Rubio instead of Kendrick Meek as our second senator. If Crist runs as a Democrat, his "flip-flop" of three different party affiliations in as many years will most likely clinch his defeat. So we have to have a very strong opponent if there's a primary. Scott has to go, and he's extremely weak on the popularity scale, so a pretty easy target!

I don't know why our Dem lawyers want to keep pushing Crist. I keep thinking they know that a lot of their mistakes or their client's mistakes will come back to haunt them if the State is run by real Democrats who have no compunction in listening to the complaints of ordinary citizens.

If anything, he's the one who should have dropped out. But i agree that we need to unite around one candidate in 2014. We cant shoot ourselves in the foot in a race that should be a gimme for us.

Now lets get Scott out in '14.

I went to FSU and have been so sad by what's been happening in that state. I had a friend give up a 20 year teaching career because of their punitive measures towards teachers.
