Clarence Thomas' staggering corruption is a gift we cannot ignore.

EVERY SINGLE CONSERVATIVE DOMINATED DECISION HE WAS A PART OF IS INVALID.
We need to make this a mantra and continue to voice this. Removing him is not enough. Nor is adding ethics rules for the High Court enough. Decades of corruption and decades of polluted decisions. Rulings on reproductive rights, gerrymandering, voter suppression, limiting money in elections, 2nd amendment, union dues, just to name a few, are now tainted and invalid.

If we give no push back on his perversion of the law, more dirty justices will continue his work. We cannot cede this ground and allow the full extent of the corruption to be normalized and entrenched by further rulings by a twisted Supreme Court. Refute their legitimacy, challenge their acceptance and demand these legal matters be brought before a un-compromised court.

They are counting on us giving up. Crow owns more judges than Thomas. And he's not the only one who owns judges.

I don't know any legal solutions. If we give Joe numbers, he can deal with it in the best possible manner. That's legal in most states.

...to high enough a degree to ensure the kind of Democratic victories that would yield a Senate willing to expand the court and/or impeach the likes of Thomas, then it's a gift.

Otherwise it's just another nail in the coffin of American democracy.

Sure, we have to do our best to drive the threat to democracy home with the voters, but it's damned depressing that it's a hard message to get through to them when it should be blindingly obvious without having to exert great effort.

There are too many voters that love what Thomas, Trump, and the rest of the Republican have done to this country, and too many who are quite capable of either not turning out to vote, or voting for more Republicans anyway, because, "Biden seems too old, and I kinda remember the economy being good with Trump before the pandemic, totally discounting how Trump was still President when the economy went to hell, and I'm not going to give Biden any credit for how amazing the economic comeback was because of Biden because inflation and I just don't feel it..."

6. There is no mechanism to change rulings because of a justice's behavior.

It's not part of the system so can't be done.
And the only way to remove him is impeachment which isn't possible.
It needs a majority vote in the house and a trial and conviction in the Senate just like for a president.

There is no other mechanism available to do anything about Thomas.
He could shoot someone in Time Square and still remain a justice if he wasn't impeached.

Only a Constitutional convention could add more ways to handle a rogue justice.
If that started, everything in the Constitution would be up for grabs, even to declare the US a Christian state and eliminate the free speech clause.

So it's not worth it.
A criminal, rogue justice is there for life and there's nothing we can do about it.

revisit. The conservatives are counting on there never being an interest to redress these injustices. This is exactly what the conservatives did with Citizen's United, with The Voting Rights Act and now with Roe vs. Wade. But if we accept the corrupt rulings as settled law, they will only get worse. They are designed to get worse.

Granted, he can only be removed by impeachment and Senate conviction, BUT does that grant him immunity from prosecution for crimes committed? If he is charged with blatant illegal taking of bribes, and a jury finds him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he sentenced to prison, even if he is still legally a member of the Court, can he be reasonably expected to function as such?

To my knowledge, there has never been such a situation. I would love to see it play out. I don‘t see John Roberts presiding over a court session where one of his associates is participating from a prison library via Zoom, with his orange jump suit peeking out from under his robe.

Completely gone.

I have always thought he was sleazy. He was sleazy at An ita Hill debacle . He never should have been onthe Court - like several other judges.
