Obama reelected, the first gay US senator elected, gay marriage legalized in three states and weed legalized in two states.
I wonder what all those pastors are going to rant about today.

(22,165 posts)They are a mainstream protestant EVANGELICAL church.
I am sure the fundamentalists churches are ranting and railing, though

(5,352 posts)While other church marquees here in town read "God Bless the United States of America" in the run-up to the Iraq war, the local UCC's marquee read, "May God forgive us." A lot of other churches were probably calling them a bunch of peace-loving hippie freaks (and worse), but they were on the right side of history.

They were (almost all ... I am sure it was not unanimous but I can't think of one that is not a Democrat) all over joyed by the Obama victory

(20,710 posts)The catholic vote was actually a 50-50 split. It was a pew poll: Don't have a quick link.
I do know that the Catholic Bishops insisted a pre-election anti-Obama letter was read in all conforming congregations.
So, the catholics are not a safe bet.
My local catholic church (I've never been inside, not catholic, myself) had hundreds of little blue flags in the front yard for all of the unborn babies aborted.....
Pretty angry stuff.

(3,370 posts)I was raised Roman Catholic (and in parishes and schools that were pretty liberal), but I attend an Apostolic Catholic church. It's got all the goodies of Catholicism, except they don't believe the Pope is infallible, they ordain women, they don't preach hard against contraception and abortion, the priests can marry and they accept the gays. A good portion of our congregation is gay. Our pastor is openly gay. They so perform gay wedding ceremonies even though it's not legal in our state. It is refreshing to go to a Church like that.
