......pillar of journalism that she is, did the DOM dance on the face of Petraeus in this piece on him, when in her third paragraph she chose the rhetoric, "Broadwell, who was *embedded* with Gen. Petraeus....." (asterisks are my addition used for emphasis).

Her efforts to titillate her reader may speak more to her own lack of being "embedded" than they do about her journalistic integrity in informing the public about what is happening in real life. My readers may care to note the rag that she writes for.

Here we are with so many important issues to be worried about and the conversation fixates on sex. It is in my opinion that the reason is that the US is still tied to our puritan roots from Britain since that is the only other country I feel has a similar obsession about sex.

I was raised in Germany to German and Danish parents. My German and Danish family, friends and neighbors could care less who is fucking who. The assumption is that sex and lots of it is a healthy thing and it is no ones business as long as it involves consenting adults. No one wants to know, no one cares who is fucking who. I remember the confused questions I received when the Lewinsky/Clinton scandal broke. The attitude in Europe was "so he had a lover" - "what is the big deal?". There was more interest in understanding why Americans are so upset and shocked.

Until Americans can relax and accept that we humans are sexual beings, we will continue to be absorbed with scandal and wanting to know who is fucking who instead of focusing on where our real concerns should be.

The concern here shouldnt be how many people Petraeus fucked but rather if intelligence and security may have been compromised by his involvements with a variety of people. Thats all that I care about it. And sadly, Petraeus seems to have gotten himself involved in a "fatal attraction" situation....

My point is the problem with American (and British culture) being engrained in its puritanical roots and thus obsessed with sex scandals instead of focusing on more important and more relevant issues.
