Long lines at the polls stir calls in Congress for election reform

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/267171-long-lines-at-the-poll-stir-calls-in-congress-for-election-reform-

(snip)
Now, just days after the polls closed, a number of Democrats say Congress should intervene to "normalize" voting nationwide and ensure the snags at the polls in 2012 don't plague elections down the line.

(snip)
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) said the long lines and confusion are "absolutely preventable." He's eyeing legislation to create uniform rules governing voting in all states, including early voting standards, registration criteria and proof-of-identity guidelines.

(snip)
Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) said many of the delays in Florida resulted from the length of the ballot, which included "non-interpretable, page-long constitutional amendments" championed by the state's Republican legislature.

"I think they were done intentionally," Wilson said Friday by phone.

She recommended Hillary Clinton and Sandra Day-O'Connor as co-chairs.

The 50 States, DC and the Territories would meet and try to reach consensus on measures to remedy the problems we saw with people just trying to vote.

The Federal Government would stay out of it for the most part. They would perhaps offer funding for more voting machines and the costs of extra polling places.

BTW - Hi cal04. Do you finally have power?

So all they did is slow down the voting process by making the ballot extremely long.

She thinks that the legislature deliberately added lots of amendments solely to make the ballot long and make voting lines longer. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

Early voting was cut, and ballot was made very long. Leading to long lines at the polls.
This isn't rocket science.

I have no doubt about it. Create confusion and inconvenience. In chaos you can steal.

But as Jon Stewart said, "F*ck you. This time Obama won without you!"
