A letter from the Citizens of Colorado and Washington.

Dear President Obama,

We the people of the State of Colorado and Washington request that you immediately address the current cross roads we have come to concerning the legalization of Marijuana. As you know the people of these States have made the determination that Marijuana is a safe and should be a legal way to relax or unwind. Just as we allow alcohol we should allow Marijuana. As Adults able to make the determination for themselves how they live their lives, we have voted and democracy has spoken! We your constituents have let our will be known!

You are a man who claims to believe in democracy. Well now is the time to show your beliefs. Let your actions speak louder then your words. We request an immediate review of the Federal Government's Drug policies. We request that Marijuana be reclassified comparable to Alcohol and regulated the same! or even better.

We understand that like all intoxicants they must be used in a rational manor. We understand that we cannot put others at risk or in danger while using such intoxicants. We understand that the trade should be regulated. But, this trade should no longer be prohibited.

The are a number of reason why the prohibition is wrong. The individual's right to grow plants, the individual's right of choice, the failure of the drug war, the loss in taxable revenue, the danger to society by gang's and criminals that use the sale of this plant to finance their life style, lives lost from the drug war, the possibility of tainted and unsafe product arriving to consumers, the person who lost their job from a drug test because he wanted to get a little buzzed at the grateful dead concert! the list can go on and is thoroughly documented.

I also understand the reasons for continuing the prohibition. A black market whose profits go to unknown people. Filling of corporate owned prisons to increase profits. Continuing fear and bloodshed in our streets and in the streets of Mexico.

The safety of this plant has been well documented. As a person who has himself tried the plant you understand the safety. The lives lost and destroyed in the drug war far out number any lives that would of been lost from the drugs themselves. Especially Marijuana.

We the people ask you now President Obama. Let us know where we stand! We have a whole new market to build. We have some streets to clean up. We are ready to make a change. Are you?
