Democrats. WE are members of the Democratic Party. It offends me that especially the right wing cannot call us by our correct party name.

Notice that Luckovitch uses the adjective "Democratic" correctly in the cartoon. Most Republicans use "Democrat" as an adjective nowadays as a kind of subtle slur, and it's used so often that a lot of people have adopted that use of it, too.
Hearing it is like fingernails on a chalkboard to a lot of us.
