Florida electric lineman suffers broken jaw in Long Island assault.

Link: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/long_island&id=8883202

Apparently the victim was sucker punched after a 16 hour shift.
He thought his assailant had a question about power outages.
Things are getting tense after so long without electricity although
the reason for the attack was not known.

The guy came here to help, and he gets beaten up for it.

From another story: http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/news/region_polk/lakeland/lakeland-electric-lineman-breaks-jaw-cheek-bone-in-attack-while-restoring-power-in-new-york

Despite this unfortunate encounter, John says it doesn't change his impression of the town. Many families brought out food and water to the crews. One even made a snowman with a heartfelt thank you.

"It was one heck of a punch. If nothing else, I would like to shake the guy's hand. He got a heck of a jab," he said.

fall back to some of our less, shall we say, productive coping mechanisms. It takes a lot of force to fracture a jaw. It's a reasonable assumption that this wasn't the first punch the assailant has thrown.

I hope the attacker is found and jailed. The last thing the area needs is to have workers afraid to come and help for fear of getting attacked and hospitalized.

Or maybe he used something like brass knuckles as the story suggests.

Kudos to the locals however. Most of the comments in the articles are supportive and almost apologetic.
Applewhite passes it off as an isolated incident that could have happened anywhere.

The man came to HELP, and this is what he gets?

I would love to have seen how New Yorkers would have gotten through Katrina.
