The Citizens of Florida Move to Impeach Governor Rick Scott.

Petitioning The U.S. Senate
The Citizens of Florida Move to Impeach Governor Rick Scott.

Petition by
Earl Small
Jacksonville, FL

The Constitution of Florida provides for impeachment and removal from office for officials who have committed misdemeanors or worse crimes.

The citizens of Florida urgently call for the Impeachment of Florida Governor Rick Scott for his blatant voter suppression activity during the 2012 elections.

Florida Governor Rick Scott has done his best to prevent Democrats from voting in the 2012 Presidential Election. First, Scott and his Republican legislature undertook a purge of Florida’s voting lists that were so biased against minorities (who tend to vote Democratic) that the state was sued by the Department of Justice for violating the National Voter Registration Act. The purge was so overly aggressive that there are now reports of multiple military personnel being disenfranchised by the State of Florida for the 2012 election. In addition, Scott and his Republican co-conspirators in the legislature dramatically cut back on early voting hours in Florida.

Their moves now stand as a clear indicator that Florida’s Governor and legislature have no qualms about suppressing the votes of their opponents.

Governor Rick Scott led efforts to suppress voter turnout by curtailing early voting hours which resulted in confusion and extended waiting periods for voters all across the state.

Florida’s Republican Governor Rick Scott cut the number of early voting days from 14 to eight, Scott signed into law changes in 2011 that cut early voting days from 14 to eight. As the early voting lines grew longer, he refused requests to issue an executive order adding more days.

All early voting was cut except in the five counties covered by the Voting Rights Act. Those counties continued to have 12 days of early voting. Scott also eliminated early voting on the Sunday before the election, a heavy voting day for minorities. In 2008, 33.2% of Floridians who voted on that Sunday were black, while 23.6% were Hispanic, these actions clearly show that the Governor sought to use suppression tactics on the Democratic voters of the State of Florida.

Additionally the number of voting machine allocated to Democratic areas, versus Republican areas was severely limited, with some polling areas having insufficient machines to handle the high voter turnout.

His Failure to allocate sufficient voting machines to Democratic areas is deliberate voter suppression and should be deemed illegal simply because of a lack and insensitivity to the rights of Democratic voters.

We the citizens of Florida strongly feel it is time to investigate and impeach Gov. Scott because Florida can do much better!

Let's see: Republican legislature. 2 years until election for Governor in FL. Scott is deeply unpopular.

Pointless.

We don't need a repeat of Wisconsin. Besides, chutzpah is not an impeachable offense.

Audacity has nothing to do with it. How about a downright snake in the grass with no thought of anyone not in Florida's 1%. He a cheat, liar, thief of people's dreams and Florida is blue now and his audacity to believe that minorities and interested parties would put up with it always has turned his state blue. Okay chutzpah is one word that could describe this poor excuse of a 'leader'. But just like Husted in Ohio, some kind judicial charges need to be brought against this 'leader' of the people and I'm not a lawyer of any type jailhouse or otherwise, so don't ask what charges because I would not know. But someone does. I can't wait for the zimmerman murder trial to begin. The feces is really going to hit the rotating oscillator. We'll see what kind of 'leader' he is then.

He really is that dumb.

There is no other explanation for someone who cuts early voting nearly in half and then initiates an investigation into why the lines to vote were so long. That is an investigation destined to point directly at him with a big "Derp".

This is a crime of the worst kind. I assumes a stupidity of the masses on such a grand scale. How could the people of the state of Florida allow this type of behavior from THEIR ELECTED Officials? If the people don't stop them they will do this everywhere they can and God knows they are trying anything and everything they can to get power EXCEPT the right things. I for one am amazed at the excuses I have seen these a-holes use on TV for their blatant suppression? Are they that stupid or do they know that their base of voters is? Dumb redneck Foxers

The people of Florida did not vote FOR Rick Scott. They voted AGAINST President Barack Obama in particular and the Democratic Party in general. This is a clear example of cutting off your nose to spite your face. It serves them right and they are stuck with Rick Scott until 2014.

And even before he was sworn in, people down here wanted to replace him.

It's called Election Day and that's when you pick and choose who you want to run the government.
