These dogs literally have a new lease on life, and they really know it. Their whole demeanor just radiates joy and vigor...

and passing over. One of my pups was a congenitally blind dachshund mix. I have recently adopted a golden retriever named Dexter who is 8. He and I are at the approximate same stage of life - a bit older and grayer than we used to be but still able to do what we want and cause a bit of trouble now and then. Older dogs have their advantages. They are often very mellow, sweet and loving. I have loved all my dogs at every stage of their lives just as I have loved my own life at every stage.
