Obama's "gifts" were not just for blacks and Latinos, dammit.

They're programs for people that are poor. And there are a SHITLOAD of broke white people across this nation that could use the help.

The fact that large numbers of broke white people spurned those "gifts" simply shows how foolish and empty the idea that people act in their own best interest really is.

People rarely act in their own best interest. Period. Look around you... you see people that are overweight from eating poorly. (For the record, I'm one of them). The health risks are well known, yet they still reach for the burgers and fries. They smoke. They text while driving. They tailgate in rush-hour traffic. They do dangerous illegal drugs. They have more kids then they can afford.

The real story here is that broke white people voted for people that want to take away those "gifts" because those broke white people will vote for their own poverty if it keeps non-white from getting "gifts", too.

I voted for Obama because he has more in common with me than the GOP ever will. And I'm not black. freshwest Nov 2012 #1

Poverty cuts through all colors, and the GOP has been demonizing all the poor, except for fake plumbers...

should be looked at as necessities and rights instead. All of us should have the right to better health care and a quality education. Women and gays should have the right to be free from government intrusion in their personal lives. And contrary to what the GOP thinks, poor people should not have to worry about lacking basic necessities like health care, food, housing, and water. They call themselves a "pro-life" party, but all they are are "pro-fetus". They don't care about you once you come out of your mother's womb.
