Carter was before my time (I was born in 1980), but I can't recall anything from my (admittedly) limited grasp of history that Carter did that compares to george w. bush.

Bush 43 was, without a doubt, the worst and most destructive president I've ever seen.

Carter was always Saint Ronnie's whipping boy and Republicans continued that tradition. But we don't see Carter vilified so much anymore, as this is could ivite a comparison of his results with those of our most recent GOP President.

President Carter was treated just as President Obama is today, as President Clinton of yesterday was. The republiCONs have treated all our Democratic Presidents the same since watergate and nixons fall. I say fall because it was an epic fail. One measure of a good President is what the next president does when the first one leaves office. Reagan immediately started dismantling everything that President Carter done as soon as he took the oath. If we would have stayed on the path that President Carter started us on we would be a green energy country today.
Carters crimes, he was not one of the good ole boys and he was from the south. All it took for the pukes to treat him as the affore mentioned two other Democratic Presidents I mentioned which was to work their asses off lying and cheating at all things the Democratic Presidents tried to do. A few years ago President Clinton in an interview was going over what he was able to accomplish during his two terms and he looked at the camera and said I did all this without one republiCON vote, I reiterate he said, without one republiCON vote. That pretty much explains where we are today with President Obama and Previously with President Carter.
One of the first things that I love President Carter for is he gave amnesty to the VN draft evaders, the very people who I credit with getting our asses out of the Vietnamese war. They and the brave Protesters of that war, my war.

There are many gays who are not "out" or are quiet about their gayness. You do not know those people are gay. Some of them are your friends (assuming you have lots of friends, as you most probably do) and you do not know they are gay. Which is fine.

The big point is that prejudging people by their self-identification is prejudice and bigotry. It doesn't matter whether a person is gay or not; but when somebody rejects a person merely because they say they are gay, that is prejudice and bigotry. In the same way, when somebody rejects a person merely because they say they are Republican, that is prejudice and bigotry.

Assholes are useful

Liberals, Progressives, & Dems DO NOT abuse others--or they try hard not to. Conservatives, Teabaggers and Rethuglicons DO abuse others, and find no problem with it.

People who abuse others consistently and knowingly deserve to be shunned. In recent years I have found it necessary to look at the political affiliations of doctors, lawyers, building contractors, service companies, other businesses and teachers. If any one turns out to be a Republican supporter, it's a deal breaker --"we just can't do business." I don't care what their reputation is in their field. I have found that it's just safer to move on.

On Nov 6 my sis told me she was working a Dem table at a polling place in VA. The R table was right next to them. All day the Dems sat alongside the Republicans and handed out sample ballots and whatnot. She told me that MANY people would come to her table, see the Dem stuff, and snarl, "I wouldn't vote for that.....Muslim!" (She said she heard the word Muslim over and over). But when people voting Dem approached the Republican table and were handed a sample ballot, they were always nice about it, just a polite "no thanks."

At the end of the day my sis leaned over to the Republican guy and told him what she observed--how rude and ugly the R people were to her and how the Dems were so polite to him. He was quiet and didn't argue. She said, "well, just think about it."

Or, conversely, if you see someone being an asshole, you can bank on it that they're a republican. Just ask 'em.

If the first thing you do when finding out someone is Republican is to think they are an asshole, then you will look like the asshole.

There are lots of Republican assholes out there, but there are also plenty of nice people who also identify and vote Republican. Maybe they don't take politics too seriously, are misinformed on the issues, have Fox News as their primary news source or remember when the Republican party used to be somewhat sane.

We would do a lot better with these people if we can find some common ground instead of trying to prove them wrong all the time.

Don't expect them to go away from the dark side right away, but if you show that the Democratic party shares some of their values, they will more likely consider voting for our guys next election.

what's especially sad is when this statement is coming from someone that works for minimum wage (or something pretty darn close) at walmart (or any other non union rethug owned company) and lives in alabama (or any number of the deep red south or mid west even) and is a female (although it is just as sad when it is a male only more shocking when it is female).

Two things come to mind when I hear some one describe themselves as a republican; 1. Unless you make close to a million dollars a year or more you probably are watching way to much faux noise and really should step out into reality because you are voting against your own best interest. 2. Victimized angry racist.

I also tend to end the conversation as fast as I can. And I also tend to never take anything else that, that person might say afterwords on every matter with a grain of salt. Their thoughts and reasoning become extremly questionable.
