There is no law against masturbating a lot. (Yet.) And no law against not masturbating a lot. He's not making a claim to never having masturbated, to my reading. It's a statement of a personal attitude. He says he feels it is nt a good thing and he tries to avoid it. He seems to not consider it proper inside of marriage, for instance.

Well, I've certainly known people who considered masturbation within marriage to be a form of cheating. I don't agree, but some people conceptualize their marriage differently.
