Sunday Talk Shows

ABC This Week
This Sunday, "This Week" analyzes the Middle East on the brink of war, the high-stakes talks about the fiscal cliff, and the fallout from the Petraeus sex scandal and the battle over Benghazi.

Just one week after his re-election, President Obama faces a widening circle of contentious issues. Will a fresh conflict between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza escalate into a wider crisis in the region? Can the White House and Congress negotiate a compromise over cutting spending and raising taxes on the wealthy, or will the looming fiscal cliff arrive without a deal? Will there be further fallout from the sex scandal involving former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus, and did his testimony on Capitol Hill answer lingering questions over what happened in Benghazi, Libya?

In her first Sunday morning interview since the election, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi discusses the latest on the fiscal cliff negotiations following Friday's White House summit, only on "This Week." Plus, House Homeland Security Committee Chair Rep. Peter King and Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sen. Carl Levin debate the Petraeus affair, the ongoing Benghazi investigation, and the surging violence in the Middle East.

Then, the "This Week" powerhouse roundtable debates all the week's politics, with House Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and ABC News' George Will, Donna Brazile and Jonathan Karl

As talks on the fiscal cliff begin, can Democrats and Republicans finally begin working together to solve the looming fiscal challenges, or will stalemate still rule Washington? Will the ongoing investigations into the Petraeus sex scandal and the attack in Benghazi impact President Obama's cabinet selections for his second term? And will violence in the Middle East grow into a wider war? The powerhouse roundtable debates those topics and more, Sunday on "This Week.

Mike Rogers

As Republicans step up their calls for a Watergate-style investigation into the Sept. 11th attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya, President Obama publicly defended his U.N. Ambassador, Susan Rice, against GOP critics who have leveled sharp attacks after comments she made on this program. This Sunday, in what could be a preview of a possible Senate confirmation fight should the president nominate Rice to lead the State Department, we'll have an exclusive interview with one of the critics that the president singled out, Sen. Lindsey Graham

The presidential election; education: Bill Gates. U.S. fiscal outlook: Former Treasury secretaries Paul O'Neill and Robert Rubin

On GPS this week: fixing America’s finances. Fareed speaks with two former U.S. treasury secretaries who represent both sides of the political aisle: Robert Rubin and Paul O’Neill.

Earlier this week, writing in the New York Times, Rubin tackled the arguments surrounding the so-called fiscal cliff, the looming combination of automatic spending cuts and tax increases that kick in at the start of next year unless Republicans and Democrats in Washington can agree a deal. Can the two parties alter what Rubin describes as America’s “unsustainable and dangerous fiscal trajectory?” Hear Rubin’s take on GPS this week.

Also, billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates talks about what’s wrong with American education, and how he plans to help fix it.
