Of a 16 year old who committed murder, thereby punishing the whole family for what the kid did. I wonder why Palestinians don't like Israel?

(23,244 posts)One side tortures, rapes and murders civilians because they are Jews.
The other tears down a home of a person that murdered a young police woman.
And it's the later that reminds you of Nazis? Really?

(8,930 posts)TO THE EDITORS OF NEW YORK TIMES:
Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the "Freedom Party" (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.
The current visit of Menachem Begin, leader of this party, to the United States is obviously calculated to give the impression of American support for his party in the coming Israeli elections, and to cement political ties with conservative Zionist elements in the United States. Several Americans of national repute have lent their names to welcome his visit. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughout the world, if correctly informed as to Mr. Begin's political record and perspectives, could add their names and support to the movement he represents.

(23,244 posts)home. In this scenario, the Israelis have all the power. They can just go in and destroy the homes of suspected collaborators (the family of the murderer). That is how the Nazis punished families in Italy to punish the entire community for the actions of a few. How do you see any semblance of the Nazi regime in the Hamas terrorists? The more closely resemble Boko Haram, or any other barbaric terrorist group. The Nazis were coldly calculating in their actions. Decide for yourself who most closely resemble the Nazis.

As long as there are Jews, there will be Nazi/Hamas/Hezbollah types intent on killing them. Most reasonable people understand that isn't the fault of the Jews.

I don't understand the "mapping" portion of the home demolition punishment.

(12,737 posts)Don't want to bulldoze the wrong house.
This deterrent tactic doesn't work.
Not on the West Bank, not in some US housing projects, where if any person living in public housing is (or was) arrested for any number of gang crimes, the entire household, be they disabled, great-grandparents or newborns, is evicted.
All it does is create more anger and chaos. Which in turn creates more crime and terrorists.

The right wing settlers have used the Gaza situation to take more land and intimidate and kill more people there.

Was what this kid did right? No. It wasn't. He should see consequences through the court system....but his whole family shouldn't be left homeless and destitute.
However, by tearing down his family's home, they are also giving the settlers what they want, more pain for the people living in the West Bank and more land for themselves. Their aim is to remove all Palestinians from that land, either by driving them out with death threats or killing them. Let's not pretend that they are friendly people who come and buy the land from the people living there.

The other side pays their martyrs for killing Jews or their sympathizers.
Hard to know who to condemn more.
