Question for KY folks: How does KY manage to turn out such polar opposites as Andy Beshear and Mitch McConnell?

Wondered this for a long time...What is it about Kentucky that it can turn out such opposites?

(Dont know what is going on here; i can't get the K K to stick on Kentucky)

US Senators represent the entire state. Ditto the governor.

good for them so they vote for Beshear. However, they really can’t tell what a Senator does in their actual lives so they vote purely on ideology and since they think Rs represent that for them they vote for McConnell.

We have a wonderful Democratic governor - Roy Cooper - but can't manage to elect a Democratic senator in recent years. It's frustrating.
