Black Friday shoppers are already waiting in line in Tampa.

TAMPA, Fla. —

Black Friday shoppers are already waiting in line in Tampa.

Rick Hilton arrived Friday night at the same Best Buy store he has shopped at since he was in ninth grade. Now, the 21-year-old is looking for deals on a computer and flat-screen television for his grandmother.

The Tampa Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/T9st3h ) that Hilton and two other shoppers were already in line in anticipation for the long lines on the day after Thanksgiving. By Saturday afternoon, two more shoppers claimed a spot.

Hilton and some other shoppers reunite once a year for this event, pitching tents to sleep in at night and playing football in the parking lot when the store closes.
Tina Jones set up camp early Saturday morning as she waited for her family to show up.

3. Are they going to try and deep fat fry over a fire in the parking lot?

...and end up burning down the store? Crazy doesn't begin to cover it.

After 36 hours, I had that necklace in my hand.
You know the grit that's on sandpaper??...It's larger than those "Diamonds"

I'm wiser now

There really is something totally off about being in line for days like this. Plus, are there porta-potties nearby?

I'm saving a whole lot more money by not shopping on Black Friday itself. I will be doing a small amount of shopping for some Christmas gifts, maybe some things for myself. But I won't be buying any electronics of any kind.

The real underlying story here is that people have become convinced that the only thing that validates their existence is the purchase of things, and more things. No wonder so many people are in serious debt.
