Quite a rabbit hole they let Nixon and Buchanan drag that party into. This man would be considered a liberal Democrat or a progressive now, historical times taken into consideration. We need to remember that some things exist beyond labels. I think Thaddeus Stevens was a great man, and one to which this nation owed a great deal. That does not speak to the current condition of the Republican radicals of this age--Teabaggers all.
