Press conference by the Boise Police just now over the arrest of a suspect in what must rank as one of the sicker crimes I've heard of:BOISE -- Boise Police investigators say they have made an arrest in connection the death of a patas monkey at Zoo Boise.
Michael Watkins, 22, Weiser, was arrested just before 2 p.m. and is currently in the Washington County Jail. He is charged with two felonies - burglary and grand theft.

Zoo Boise officials tells us the monkey was brutally beaten and left for dead early Saturday morning.
Police say they can't release many details as to how the intruders broke in or why. We do know that the monkey died of excessive blunt force trauma to his head and upper body.

(28,498 posts)I'm wondering if this fellow wanted to experience what it would be like to kill a human, but didn't want to suffer the penalty of murder if caught. So he decides to beat a monkey to death.
After all, monkeys do resemble humans in many ways, so perhaps he thought if he could kill a monkey, he'd experienced how if felt to fatally beat a human and this would satisfy his desires.
He probably thought he would never be caught since it wasn't a human and therefore no one would care as much.
I'm guessing the perp is one, sick citizen.
